Well, they had it about as good as they could possibly have had it, but they succumbed to Dick and Forde and their Cal led allies.

Not just the obvious answer of win

I mean there really isn't another answer. At least none that would help more than this. And specifically win in conference because they've gone into SEC play with good records beating up on a bunch of cupcakes only to crash and burn once conference play starts. Realistically as it stands nobody except die hards are going to give a rip about basketball until January and if they get a few wins to start out then some interest will start to build. Baseball starts in February so if they struggle out of the gate and they still suck when baseball starts then your opportunity is essentially gone.

I will say they could do a better job of marketing the team, I've seen billboards and promos for baseball, football, even womens hoops all around town over the years. Mens hoops comparatively has very little visibility. But again, that kind of ties into winning more. More businesses and sponsors would be willing to align their own marketing image with the mens hoops team if they weren't a bottom of the barrel team. Businesses want to be associated with success, winners, and teams with high visibility. No business wants to align themselves with losers that the public at large is at best apathetic about because that makes them seem like losers by association.

So it all ties back to winning more. Win and fan engagement will grow, marketing opportunities will become more abundant. No one's expecting a natty or anything, just make the tourney. Simply being a name included on the bracket that millions of people across the country are going to fill out in March and playing a game the country will pay attention to will go a long way in increasing visibility and excitement

LSU basketball fans breakdown at like a 5% uber passionate, 95% uber fair weather clip. Consistent winning AND playing an exciting brand of basketball is the only way to get butts in the seats.

I really think McMahon could have a methodical tournament team this season and the high level fan support still wouldn't be there. It has to really be something out the ordinary. Trent Johnson had a really good team one year and I don't remember the attendance really knocking anyone's socks off.

It would also help to schedule some non-Q4 home non-conference games, but here we are.

Easy…win.

We don’t pack Gymnastics meets because they’re losing.

If the team has an obvious identity and folks feel like they are actually in games, it will increase.

LSU needs a high energy coach. dud personalities like mcmahon won't move the needle. there's a reason fans loved wade just beyond the wins.
