Hope that Penix and Nix lose

At least 1 is guaranteed to lose at least 1 in the next 3 weeks. Just hope they don’t go off and have some 400+ yards passing games with 4 or 5 TDs. Would be nice if they turned the ball over a couple of times even in wins.

As far as what Jayden needs to do, I think he benefits from having a relatively poor slate of games this week. As long as he’s still in the discussion this weekend (and there’s no reason he shouldn’t), if he just has a “normal” 400 total yard game with 3-4 TDs, even though it would be against Georgia State, they’ll still show his highlights on the late-night shows. Which would keep him in the discussion for another week.

Then next week, a similar type game would suffice, but he needs to have some “wow” type plays mixed in and early. Some so good that they break into the Michigan/OSU game to show a few times since most people won’t be watching us and A&M. It’d be better if we played at night when more people were watching, but one benefit of playing early is that if he does have a great game with some of those “wow” plays, they’ll show them on every channel at halftime of those games and during post/pre-games of the other all throughout the day. It may work out that even though not a lot of people will watch our entire game, they may actually see more of his highlights all day long.

Now, the most important thing is we have to beat A&M. Lose that, and it’s moot. Probably needs to not turn the ball over too.

But he should still be right there going into championship week. That’s obviously gonna be the hardest thing to overcome. It could wind up being an out of sight, out of mind thing. But as long as he’s still in the discussion after next Saturday, just hope Penix and/or Nix have “meh” games, and there’s a groundswell of media support that champion for him. That’s already happening as he’s up to 2nd and 3rd in betting odds on most sites.

2 other things that could potentially factor in:

1) Penix and Nix could split the PNW votes a bit, but maybe more importantly

2) a lot of voters in the past have filled out their ballots BEFORE championship weekend so as not to punish the candidates who aren’t playing

A lot of things will have to fall just right, but it’s certainly possible. Much more possible than anybody would have thought after the Bama game. Will be fun to watch for sure.

He has to hope nix and penix falter. Its his only shot

Best case scenario for him would be if Oregon doesn’t play in PAC-12 championship.

Just keep doing what he has been doing and he will be fine. I honestly expect him and the staff to approach this game the same way they did with Army and throw the ball early and often and take a bunch of deep shots. I could see Hilton getting a nice 50+ yd touchdown on top of Nabers and BTJ being featured. Get him over 300 and 4-5 TD passes then give way to Nuss in the second half.

He beat all of our opponents. Unfortunately our defense sucked sweaty balls

10 total TDs
700 yards passing
1 int max
100 yards rushing (just needs to break the 1000 mark)
2 wins

Then you can say he did all he can do and just hoping at that point for the Beavers to give PeNix all they can handle.

If they’re stupid enough to deny that he’s the clear front runner there’s not much else he can do.
Heisman is a joke if Daniels doesn’t win it.

700 total yards against next opponent. 400 total yards against AM.

Have one of the front runner have a crappy performance on the bigger stage.

AS noted, the LSU / aggie game will kick off at the same time as Ohio St. / Michigan. So the majority if not all of the Mid West voters will not be watching JD play. Assume a lot of the West Coast voters. And chances are the game will be close, so not many will be flipping back & forth.

Just let him return a punt
Nah. This squad under Kelly makes even seasoned pass catchers struggle to catch any ball that’s kicked. Last thing JD5 needs is a muffed punt due to whatever kind of voodoo curse is over this team in that department.

Throw for 500 yards and run for 150 against Georgia State. Beat A&M with 400 yards passing and &150 running.

Can you imagine him on a kickoff or punt? It would be like Deion Sanders
