Sad that we never heard a John Ferguson National Championship call.

He was fantastic on the championship game call. I’ve watched it 3 times from SEC homer call.

Hawthorne made more than the occasional mistake. He was abysmal.
Hawthorne was a terrible play by play guy. He would constantly call a gain of six on first and ten, and then it would be second and eight. He did this so often I’d want to reach into the radio and choke him.
But I wish Blair had Hawthorne’s one in a million voice and his passion for LSU.

He is very good at his job. As stupid as this sounds to everyone including me, he seems too polished and his voice too commercialized.
Im fine with him and glad he is here, but he wouldn’t have been my choice.

It depends on what you are looking for from the announcer.
If you want excitement and enthusiasm, then Ji.
But if you want an accurate representation of what he can see, but the radio audience cannot, then it is Chris.
Jim Hawthorne's errors (e.g. Jack Hunt) are legendary.

It's ok to accept greatness.

sorry thats a no for me.

I can't stand listening to sports or radio .....so Chris is just fine with me....cuz I'm not listening either way. I'd much rather listen to the booth announcers.....even if it's Gary

That’s people’s complaint. He sounds less enthusiastic and emotionally invested than the unbiased ESPN TV guys. Doesn’t make any sense.

He is far less wrong than Jim Hawthorne. They don't have to edit his big calls because they are grossly inaccurate.

quote:. This is my big problem with him- but I’d say it was far more than just several plays. Frankly his ho hum tenor on some of those amazing plays was baffling. If you didn’t know better you would really had no idea what happened since he was so robotic and uninterested sounding.
his lack of enthusiasm doesn't reflect what is going on in several big plays.

l. I used to look forward to sound bites of Hawthorne on big plays. I dont even bother searching for Blair's because in my opinion they are just NOT good.
quote:. True because you never need to get excited watching baseball.
I think he is great for Baseball

Blair>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Jim Hawthorn. Jim would have made you slit your wrists when the score was 17-7. He was the voice of "Catastrophe Syndrome."

This is the freakin', absolute, truth!

he sounds professional and business like in the calls but they like a certain passion and spontaneity

I call him Chris Blah. Too worried about missing a syllable to transmit the excitement over the air. Transmitting that excitement is much more important than he seems to understand.

I like him, but wish he would update the score more often.

I have this complaint with all sports announcers, but there's a reason why they don't broadcast the score more often; it's keeps people tuned in for a few extra minutes.
