However, he is MUCH better than Hawthorne on the basketball call

Disagree. Baseball and basketball are difficult to listen to because he is late and doesn't have the emotion the crowd does. It aggravates me to no end to hear the buzzer, the bat ping, or the crowd scream and have to wait to hear what is happening.

I won't compare him to Ferguson

Blair is was better then Ferguson. Young Hawthorne was the GOAT.

John Ferguson and Walter Hill were the best announcing team LSU has ever had.

Jacob Hester would be great as voice of the Tigers . Matt Flynn or Richard Dickson as color guy for football. I would definitely turn off sound on tv and listen.

Haven't listened to Chris since he was hired. Thankfully all major sports being televised or streamed now has eliminated the need to listen to a local radio broadcast of a game.

Agreed. I think he’s great for the baseball games and just ok for football.

Not quite sure why people question Blair's passion? Have you seen how he defends LSU on Twitter? Ex. Wade/Vitale situation last year.

He has yet to call me once, so I must withhold judgment on his calls as of yet.

Yeah, that was after fans had been bitching for weeks about his lack of enthusiasm, etc..
It's very obvious he or others read this site and relayed that to him.

Then voila, excitement in those games.

I like everything about him but his yardage calls.

LSU: First and 10. Williams gets the ball. He breaks the first tackle and they finally bring him down after a great pickup. It'll be 2nd down and 9....

Opponent
: First and 10. ENT gets the ball. He goes nowhere. Absolutely stuffed. It'll be 2nd down and 1....

He seems like a good neutral announcer like for an ESPN radio call or something. He doesn't come off as the voice of LSU in those clips. Nothing negative about him and I can actually tell what is going on when listening to his basketball calls unlike Hawthorn, but I do miss that passion Jim brought (even if it did come with some errors here and there).

because Twitter isn’t his job. It’s announcing ballgames.

I think the audio feed of the stadium is too quiet. If you ramp up the crowd noise, he'll hear it in his earphones and ramp up his calls. The best calls on the radio have a higher fan noise level. Best example is the national radio broadcast of the NFL Sunday night game. Bad games but 10x better on the radio call because you get an amped up excitement from the fans.
