If you could choose to have a consensus all-American, dominant player in one position on defense, what position would you choose?
I think I’d go with defensive tackle. Closes down the middle running game and pushes the middle of line back, disrupting passing.
Middle linebacker may be in the running also. Corners can be avoided. Defensive ends also. So which would be your choice.

Catcher. If your catcher sucks, your team sucks.

Probably agree with the defensive tackle. They can cause a lot of problems

Defensive end/pass rusher, there’s a reason they come off the board first in the NFL Draft.

Just my opinion but look at our defense with a healthy and in shape Arden Key compared to when he wasn’t, look at the difference with a healthy K’Lavon Chassion compared to without. To me they’re the difference makers that elevate a very good D to a dominant D.

So, you’d take Key or whichever you choose over another glen dorsey? Just asking,.

Not to diminish Dorsey but the outside guy is more rare. Consider that Key isn’t the best end we’ve ever had but still put up twice as many sacks and the same amount of TFLs as Dorsey’s best season. We’ve had guys like Booger, who was more productive, Chuck Wiley, Chad Lavalais, Drake Nevis, Henry Thomas, Kyle Williams, Claude Wroten, Davon Godchaux and Greg Gilmore who’ve all put up the same kind of numbers Dorsey did but only Gabe Northern has ever produced similar sack totals from the outside.

I’d have to go with goalie.

DT but damn is it nice to have a Devin White locking down the MLB position

Corner. You are right in that you have to have line play, but assuming we are good at every position, which would I want to be great - corner. Give me Patrick Peterson, Tre White, Kristian Fulton or Tyrann Mathieu all day long.

You would take a kristian fulton over a will anderson?

I think running a 3/4 defense and having the best nose tackle in college football would probably be the biggest difference maker. Having that just wrecks everything the opposing offense is trying to do.

LB, they make a lot of plays. And most of them are giants.
