As a somewhat outsider, I live in NC and am a life long Duke football fan, I have found myself to be a side LSU fan and am growing more towards pledging full on loyalty now that Cutcliffe has gone senile with his play-calling and refusal to change the staff around or adjust the offensive scheme. I love Coach O personally, but it seems he is not well received on here. Are you guys for the most part not happy with him as head coach?

How does this happen? Do you have any ties to La. or LSU?

You don’t fire the coach with the highest winning percentage in school history to hire somebody to keep your record stagnant. Couple that with a huge slide in recruiting and a refusal to change the offense and I am not a fan of the hire.

He might love LSU, and I’m glad he does, but I don’t see him getting us over the hump.

Mostly the style of play, smash-mouth defense and always riding a strong run game is just the type of football I live for. And SEC games are all over the place, not to mention 15+ years of that soothing voice of Vern Lundquist calling the 330 games and prime time night games. Also had a strange affection for Rohan Davey as a youth.

You could hear how fat he was in his voice.

He seems to have more support than I would have imagined.

I'd say close to a 45% to 55% in favor of for and against.

I could be completely off.

I feel like LSU could have done better and still retained him as DL coach. I regret they ever fired Miles during the season to give him the interim gig and allow this to even be an option. You fire Miles early on to get a step ahead of everyone else in the search.. and they settle on O.

I think he's doing a decent job. Dating back to USC interim and now LSU.. he seems like he will always lose a game he shouldn't and win a game he isn't expected to.

I see LSU having a ceiling of 9 to 10 wins max under O. Good enough to get by, but not truly competing for championships.. which is frustrating. I believe with an x and o coach, especially a new offensive culture.. The sky is the limit for LSU.. I believe LSU could be on par with UGA right now, both on the field (especially offensively) and in recruiting. I also recognize we beat UGA, which was a solid win, but again we lost games I felt we should have won.. and we weren't even competitive offensively against Bama with O and E yet again.. and that seems like it will always be the case.

I'm not even asking to win every single game, but we should be taking advantage of a very down SEC.. and we have just wasted away our opportunities the past few seasons.

O is now a combined 1-3 versus Mullen and Fisher now.

O is also a combined 1-6 versus Mullen, Fisher, and Saban.

Those teams should only get better..

I wish we were never in this position.. but it is what it is.. and until something differently happens I fully expect LSU to drop 3 games a season.

Last year, and then this year, people kept prematurely hyping O up with a 10 win season.. only to lose out on it.. We may still get to 10 wins with the bowl win, but I really expect 1-2 loss seasons. LSU should be doing better.. We are fortunate Arkansas isn't even good and Ole Miss is so atrocious defensively. Also fortunate Auburn has issues atm.

This is pretty much why so many LSU fans are frustrated with Orgeron right now. We've had almost 10 years of offensive ineptitude. Coach O promised to fix it, but he promoted a TE coach to OC who hasn't called plays full time in over 20 years.

My opinion on him is kinda meh. Done better than I expected but he's not going to ever win championships

@Mickey53 I will not be going, since that Miami game debacle of 2015 and how the team responded I am losing more and more interest in Duke, the gameday sucks, the fans suck, and the players don't play with that chip on their shoulder like they did in 2012-2014. And for reference I was one of the 10k max fans that withstood the dead era of Duke from 98-2007.

I think he’s objectively turned into a much better coach since Ole Miss and I’m pleasantly surprised with his ability to run the program and to win games. Something like 22 out of 25 of his wins at LSU are by 10 or more points and it’s good to see that again. That being said, I think he’s a low character snake for the way he took the job from Les Miles, even if it was time for Les to go, and I think he’s made shitty personnel decisions partially based off of his nostalgia for Pete Carroll era USC, partially because he falls in love with guys like Meatball/Ensminger and lets nepotism make his hires, and partially because he’s scared that someone’s going to snake him out of his job like he did Les Miles if he hires a young, talented OC.

The two things I mentioned will ultimately be his downfall at LSU and I don’t see him being secure enough to overcome them. He’ll probably leave us with some solid talent for the next head coach though so I’m happy about that, but I see his tenure falling apart fast and ending in disaster

Since that is much the same as what we have had going on here for years, why would you want to become a full LSU fan now?

That doesn't make coming in third in the west in a down year in the west taste any better or be any easier to swallow.

Ed's tenure here will go as next season goes IMO

Things SHOULD be well setup for him personnel wise and the schedule is a little easier.

If he hits it big next year, he shows he can win, if he doesnt, well, not sure he ever will here.

LSU is a fun team to follow. a lot of people tend to side with LSU and pull for them during games. idk why, but i definitely happens.
