Self impose a limit on the number of hit and runs and use them when it makes sense, not because you’re bored. Steal bases if you want to apply a lot of pressure.

I just want our hitters to work the counts and pitchers. Seems like lsu has stunk in hitting since the 2000's.

I'd like to see our batters have a better approach, stop swinging at first pitch with 2 outs, go deeper into every count with a pitcher. Tired of 12 pitch innings due to us popping/grounding out on the first pitch to end the inning. I'd like to see better defense from our middle INF.

First: Vast improvements in at-bats and plate approach. Marceaux's final stats look WAY better if he had only one or two more runs of support in most games and our hits and runs scored can only be expected to increase if we can get patient enough at the plate to fairly consistently burn the starter and get multiple innings with the opponent's bullpens.

Second: Cull the bullpen, sacrifice a chicken in it, then burn some sage and steam clean it. Start fresh there. They were just flat terrible this season and getting those guys to be more consistent goes a long way to knowing who your mid relief, closers, and mid-week inning sponges are. Doing this early is key to getting the mid-relief and closers the game time they need to weather the SEC. You can't play Johnny Wholestaff every time you have to go to the bullpen. It needs to be set up to allow the skipper to make sound situational choices.

Third: Seat backs in Alex Box.

Get us to play our best ball when it matters most. Which gives us a better chance to win championships.

CPM was a great coach. 6 straight years a national seed but very little in Omaha to show for it.

A huge part of that is getting players in their roles, cementing the lineup, developing a bull pen, finding a 3rd/4th starter.

Confidence
aggressive offense
better player development especially pitchers
not settling for "thats baseball" we need to win and do so with authority
teams no longer fear LSU we need that back

Development

An aspect of this, is obviously Strength and Conditioning as well.

Many of the teams littering Omaha just look more physically developed than we do.

Do we have issues with S&C or is it simply the majority of the teams in Omaha are composed of more matured/older (Juniors/Seniors) players?

Mainieri teams every year have zero life and zero development. Everyone comes in at their best and only gets worse.

A coach who is aware of all of his players’ talents and strengths.

Good batting lineups using logic even if the best lineup is obvious to everyone - even the fans.

Doing anything other than that does not make a particular coach look smarter than anyone else.

That said, I do like giving everyone on roster quality playing time during the season if possible.

I read numerous posts on this topic, and it seems to boil down to ONE thing, consistency @ all positions, both offensively & defensively.
A better approach to the "gut feelings" will also go a long way to a better dugout & clubhouse atmosphere...

That all the so called insiders here disappear. So far they’ve had anybody and everybody as our new coach. Lots and lots of guys full of crap on this site.

A return to fundamentals and the development of baseball players. Less focus on daily intersqad games.

He'll get a little grace period. So about the 3rd inning of Game 2 next year.
