re: We've only beaten one team with a winning record

I never said it was an excuse. But it's nevertheless easier to accept a disappointing season like 2008 and give the coach a chance to right the ship when such a season follows a national championship season. That's all anyone is saying.

The fact that we lost (2) games we should have won is what pisses me off and it had zero to do with our coaches obviously, we have the same coaches when we beat Auburn and Florida was doing well when we beat them too, they fell apart after.
Don't we have the same players as well?
I honestly can't fathom how LSU could lose to TROY and the coaches hold zero blame. I mean, i just can't....

The schedule argument is totally agenda driven. It’s not Ogerons fault the SEC is down this year we knocked off a team who just blew out the number 1 team in the country and we did it by making a historic comeback. You know how often that game is talked about on the Rant? Never, bitch and complain about Troy all you want, i wanted to pull my hair out but be consistent and appreciate SEC wins as well. I’ve also posted other seasons with weaker or equally bad schedules that were never once complained about or even mentioned. They weren’t mentioned because nobody gave a shot about it until they saw it could be used to attack O.

I think the reality for O to be on Miles and Saban level is he has to win a conference and national title. hopefully he can do it but until then Its a bit absurd to compare him to both.
No it isn't you can compare all to each other based on their first season. How each did in their first year is something you can measure. Maybe not with Saban b/c he came in and built the program but he left the program in great shape. The debate is who left it in better shape...Saban or Miles? I think Saban left it in better shape. We can reasonably compare O and Miles in their first years at LSU.

In name only. You don't think freshmen improve with experience?
Also we were banged up and missing players for those 2 games.

I just mean that a lot of people have practiced defenses for anything that seems anti-Miles. I’m not trying to knock Les I’m just saying some fans are attacking O because they didn’t want him and will stop at nothing to tear him down. Not saying that’s your agenda but its a lot of people on the Rants agenda. Look i wanted to strangle him after Troy, but i also understood why it happened and wasn’t stupid enough to think we’d fire him the next week. He and his team have responded beautifully since that game and a lot of it was due to that game causing people to check themselves and wake up.

I’m not even sure what is meant by 8-5 after an NC is ok? Does someone think Miles wasn’t ripped from pillar to post for that season? Clearly you’re not firing a guy 1 year removed from an NC. Hell I wouldn’t even want to fire O if he went 8-5 this year

How? It's one of the weakest schedules we've faced in years. It's not really up for debate either. How is that agenda-driven?

No one says it is.

Often. And rightfully so. It's our only good win. And it was an awesome win. Credit to O, his staff and the players.

Beating Auburn was awesome. I appreciate the other wins, but am not going to throw a gala in O's honor for beating 1 team with a winning record when the Troy loss and historically bad loss to State still happened.

Refresh my memory here. Also, LOL at LSU fans never once complaining about any given season. Did you just conveniently forget about the last 11 seasons?

Sure. And in doing so, it's no contest.

No question Saban left it better condition. Only Larry Coker inherited a better situation but what O took over wasn’t as bad as the CheeriOs were making it out to be after the bad start. There are holes on the roster, holes that were there when Miles was still here and it’s what cost him. But it’s a roster that was good enough to not implode. Credit O for not imploding but it was a rough start of his own design.

Until Saturday. Then we will have beaten 2.
Numbnuts.

Listen we all know its not LSU or Coach O's fault that the teams on our schedule are very down this year. People are just saying using this years schedule isn't the best barometer considering Tennesse, Florida, Ole Miss, Arkansas and Possibly A&M will all fire their coaches.

Yep. I'm not sure how this thread has dragged on this long, to be perfectly honest.

You’re right about that but continuously bringing up the schedule to devalue wins isn’t fair. Of course we need a bigger sample size and he has to win something of consequence eventually to merit keeping the job long term. 2 things though, 1. LSU has been pre season ranked from 12-14 in 4 of the past 5 seasons so expecting a national title in year 2 maybe far fetched, a better judgement would be improvement over the next couple years depending on where our roster stacks up vs everyone els. 2. And this is back to the schedule discussion, Les Miles first 5 years at LSU was the worst 5 year span in SEC West history in terms of strength of the division, we had our most talented Rosters ever when he arrived and the schedule was never once brought up to devalue wins the way it’s been since O took over.

I was extremely critical on Miles but actually people tried doing this to Miles all the time, trying to discredit him
If Les Miles ever won it was because LSU recruits itself, he wins because of Saban, luck, etc...
I think no matter who the coach is people will always be critical but this isn't only happening to O, this stuff happened to Les every year. And it will always happen every year.
IMO next year will be very tellin about the staff and how they handle I think what will be a more difficult schedule. We play Miami and Georgia. Not sure how the new coaches will do in year one in the SEC but I think next year will be a bit more difficult than this years schedule
hopefully we can do well

Except for the National Champion Coming out the SEC west division 3 out of his first 5 years and out of the SEC overall 4 out of 5.

I agree 100% and in miles first 2 games he barely pulled out a win against ASU, henderson did not really have possession of that miracle catch, and lost to a bad Tenn team that we led 21-0 at half. I still think that Tenn loss is one of the worst losses in LSU history. I rate it worse than Miami of Ohio, UAB, and Troy.
Most transitions for new coaches have some hiccups. Team has improved which is promising.

Still doesn’t change the overall win pct of the division being the lowest 5 year span in SEC West history. No different from this years SEC having 3 top 10 teams 5 ranked teams and still considered down, but as usual the double standard is applied.
