Were there any starting pitchers JJ could have tried to sign from transfer portal?

There were like 1100 guys in the portal, so yes, some of them were starting pitchers.

The way you are asking this makes it seem like you think we didn’t target any starters in the portal.

We brought in 4 pitchers from the transfer portal, 3 of them had starting experience and one of them had long relief experience.

But why didn't we target starting pitchers with Friday night SEC stuff in the portal?

I think Jay wanted to come into the season without any upgrades

Pitching isn't even the biggest issue with this team. How are they so bad in the field it honestly makes no sense.

No, you just wanted to bitch about something but disguise it as a question.

Even if three Friday night starters wanted to come to LSU, there are only 13 scholarships for baseball.

Project, I know it’s probably way too early, but do you think we can get either one of Noot or Shores on campus.

Those two guys seem like big time pitchers.

Shores is going to be tough I think. Noot’s ratings seem to vary wildly with the different prospect lists, but he’s high enough in some of them that he’s one to worry about. There are so many high end arms in the class though that I don’t losing a couple won’t be the end of the world. And I think we are still recruiting for that class just to be sure.

Johnson said Kennedy seemed more excited about LSU than anyone in the class. I think we have a chance.

As Project mentioned there a lot of arms in that class. I wouldn't be surprised to get 5 or 6 on campus with starter potential. I firmly believe the 2023 team will be better than this 2022 team.

Robby Snelling is another wild card but I think his stock rises significantly and don’t see how a guy 94-96 from the left side makes it to campus. Saw on a Twitter page the other day he had 14K in 5IP. No hits or walks.

As I understand it, Clemens and Maddux decided to stay at their respective schools.

I heard we were real close to getting Randy Johnson to transfer from USC
