It’s still not an apples to apples comparison since the number mentioned by the op is presumably what Florida was missing last night, and not combined with whatever they lost from last season.

They were missing 6 players from the team that played Bama I believe.

They got completely dominated in that game, including places with no opt outs like O-line.

I’m sure Florida would have scored more with all their opted out players but I don’t think they would have won that game. They looked outclassed.

Just goes to show how down the SEC was this year

lol. You think E stepped down and Pelini was forced out because of the fans? Get real. O saw the same product on the field as fans did, and that shite wasn’t cutting it however you want to slice it.

Difference is our coaches had an entire offseason to prepare the “next man up”

you need to rethink that. they pretty much had no offseason

Correct. Let's not pretend our coaching staff had plenty of time to 'coach up' our new players and just botched it. There was no Spring, very little Summer and then additional opt-outs and injuries just before the regular season.

Again, we didn't lose 1 or 5 or 10 or 15 players from 2019; We lost about 30 players and 18 starters AND then had no off season to get them ready. Coach O will certainly be judged by what he does in 2021 (and rightfully so), but 2020 was an anomaly that will assuredly have a great big giant asterisk located adjacent to it forever.

You honestly think there’s even a remote similarity in E’s performance and Bo’s? E had success with 3 separate QB’s, 2 being true freshman and their best offensive weapon’s opting out. E was not the problem.

What a disgrace college football has become where half the team will just opt out of a good bowl after a good season Florida had

Of course you are wrong. The average Rantard will accept nothing but a string of undefeated seasons because............ well...."we are L S U".

Nothing matters, not reasoning, not facts. All that matters is that they can strut around the week after an L S U win fist bumping their baws and talking about how WE beat the most recent opponent.

Someone posting common sense...... refreshing!!

this is not to say that the coaches had zero responsibility in this season but damn..... if you would've said in Jan 2020 we were going to lose 30 players (18 which were starters) and then not have a Spring and limited Fall along with a new DC. Plus an all SEC schedule having to start two Freshman QBs for over half the season.... nobody would've said we would've been a 5 and 5 team. Definitely puts things in perspective

Then when they showed the number of players opting out, I was disappointed.

You mean QUIT, right? Yeah. Me too. And Kyle Pitts' little talk really touched my heart. Ridiculous!

This isnt yrue...Chase, Shelvin and Vincent were right before the season started, Shanahan, Cox and Nichols DB transferred in. They didn't do a great job obviously with adjusting a scheme to the talent they had but hell without spring ball and lack of summer workouts etc. they didn't know what they had either..

LSU had more than 4 days to prepare after losing those players.

True.

Now tell me about Chase, Shelvin, Brennan (injury), Stingley (injures) and Marshall.

You know...the core components of the “replacement “ plan.

I swear, some of you people are either incredibly disingenuous or downright dumb.

Translation...qb play/experience where it matters.

Look, Brady and Joe B were selfish..and rightfully so in pursuit of the Heisman. It was great the way it worked out for awards, but now we are feeling the burn

But there were SEVERAL times in the 4th qtr we should have had Brennan playing out the game.

Who do yo think pays the salaries of professional athletes?
Its not a bunch of benevolent rich guys.. Its advertisers/sponsors. When folks become disgusted with the product they lose interest. Nobody watching, advertisers quit paying and find some other way to put their product in front of the mkt.

I understand what you're saying. However, quitting on your team is still quitting on your team! Use all the terms you like about opting out! At least have the balls to do it before the season! Quitting during the season makes you a quitter.

Sad statement about those players. If your going to pot out, let your team know do they won’t go to the bowl game. WEAK!

Not a Trask fan but at least he showed up and played. Hard off!!

You shouldn't have to have a passing game coordinator, QB, coach, and OC. That was ridiculous.

How many believe Alabama would be the favorite to win it all if TE, RB, Smith and the other two WR's would opt out for tomorrow's game.
Trask had no one who could catch the ball and no running back quick enough to get through a hole. He was handicapped in everything he tried to do.
If Florida could have had long successful drives there is no way Oklahoma would have scored 55 points.
