On opening night, who will be at: 1st, 2nd, SS, and 3rd?
2B: Broussard
SS: Smith
3B: Dugas
I'm least sure about 3B. Could be Bianco or even Hughes.

It's literally impossible for me to care less about baseball scrimmages and the countdown then I do now...that's coming from a big LSU baseball fan .....that's how bad I want to beat Alabama tommorrow

If Smith is all the way back that should make the middle infield pretty solid.
Hopefully the new guys at the corners can stick the ball. AND the guy playing third doesn’t suck defensively, seems like 3rd is always shakey.
OF solid. I love me some LSU baseball.

I’m at the P&G World Series. My first time seeing this team in action.

My only adjustment would be Hughes at 2B or 3B. He’s a star defensively and I think this team can afford to stick him at 8 or 9 if they’re getting productive at bats 1-7.
Beloso will play a ton next year. He and Willis will DH if Garza is catching.
Outfield will be the best in college baseball.
Pitching has enough depth but they need to get some of these guys healthy again. I commend Mainieri for shutting down some arms early and ending the World Series after one night to focus on the real goal which is January.

Most of our top pitchers didn't pitch last night. Presumably because they've already been shut down for the fall, or because the experience was geared more towards the newcomers.
We were a lot more aggressive on the base paths than we would be in a real game, sometimes stealing 2nd and 3rd in the same at bat. For better or for worse, no one was caught stealing.
Josh Smith was the star of the day, going 4-4 with a home run, as well as a fantastic defensive play. He would definitely be our starting shortstop right now. Giovanni DiGiacomo also hit the walkoff home run, and he could be a solid addition to the lineup if needed, but it's hard to see him starting over any of Dups, Watson or Cabrera at this point. Great problem to have.
The best pitching performance I saw last night was Jaden Hill. He had a shaky start in the 1st, but only gave up one run with help from a double play, then settled down and only allowed one more baserunner through 2 more innings. Riggs Threadgill had a similar 1st and 2nd, but lost his command in the 3rd and gave up 2 runs.
Of course it's hard to draw too much from one game, especially without our best pitchers. But there's a lot to look forward to this year.

Are Labas and Hilliard shut down for precaution or is 2019 at risk for those guys?

I asked Hunt Palmer the other day and he seems to think it’s concerning that we haven’t heard anything on either. If I had to guess, one of them will not pitch in 2019.
