Monday night after Katrina

This was actually the Monday night after Rita at the end of sept not Katrina. They pushed week 1 north TX to the first bye week in Oct, week 2 ASU was supposed to be in BR but was moved to tempe, week 3 app state was moved to bye week 2, and Rita struck week 4 and they pushed it from sat to the Monday.

But agree that this one was strange. Hot as stated. Strange to try and get up for a game on a Monday when all hell is still braking loose and just got hit by a huge a storm again in less than a month. Les running out with his Brittney spears head set, almost deacaptitaing Ainge by throwing him head first into the goal post, going up big and then just fell apart. I would up sitting right next to Tennessees band and by then end of the game I was wanting to shoot myself. Between rocky top on repeat, the smell of those frickers uniforms had me nauseous the entire time. Smelled like sweat, BO, and your uncle Rick’s cabin In gatkinburg.

Auburn game. Dorsey was so horrible. He tripped and fell on Auburn's Chaz Ramsey. Such a dirty play all because Dorsey wasnt skilled or agile enough to even stand up.
So thankful that Chaz wasnt hurt.

I never understood why that game was so poorly attended.

It rained all day. The field was pretty sloppy. I want to say that there were some lightning delays as well.

A little off topic because this game was at Auburn in 1994. Aub was on a 14-game winning streak. We were 1-1.

Scoreless 1st quarter. Aub kicked a FG in 2nd. Followed by a bad pitchout that they recovered in our EZ for a td (missed PAT). But we battled back and had a 23-9 lead.
In the 4th, Jamie Howard threw his 2nd int, and it was returned for a td. Followed that with another pick six to tie it. We drove for a FG. Forced a punt. Just run out the clock.
No. 3rd and 4, threw a pass (why not run and punt to their offense that we held to 165 yards), tipped ball, pick six.
Now down by 4 with 1:55 we drove to the 25, another int, but they fumbled and we had another chance with 44 sec. But another int ended it.
Held Aub to 1 FG, but gave up 27 on turnovers!
Curly Hallman destroyed our proud program.

That Oregon St game was weirder than you described. They actually missed 3 extra points that night. The last one in OT to eke put a Tiger victory But I remember the streakers after a torrential thunderstorm.

My husband and I were there with my in-laws, both OSU grads. If I remember correctly, their FG kicker was actually very good but I guess we spooked him that night. And then there was the downpour. Definitely a strange night but my in-laws we’re 100% good sports about it

He went on to be an All American and win the Lou Groza award the next season. He didn't miss another extra-point attempt for the rest of his career!

I think it's reasonable to say that the sloppy field and his first game being in TS against the defending champs got into his head big time!

I was at that game.

The announcers kept repeating something to the effect of Don't panic. The fire is outside of the stadium .
No one was panicking. All eyes were on the field.
