“(We want to) let Dave (Aranda) run his total package. You know, he’s been limited in some

of the things he’s done,” Orgeron said earlier this month in an interview with The Advocate. “In Year 3, I think you’re going to see a Dave Aranda package that’s going to be fantastic. Dave can be very multiple and very creative. We were very basic his first two years here. He wanted to get the fundamentals down.”

This spring under Aranda has been different than the first two. He spent the 2016 spring installing his system, converting LSU’s 4-3 unit to a 3-4 set. Last spring, he had a grand total of one scholarship inside linebacker by the time the spring game rolled around.

The key players on his unit this spring have been around, operating under his system for at least a year if not two. Aranda is “expanding the playbook,” Fehoko said. By Day 2 of spring last week, LSU’s defense had already installed half the playbook it used last season.

By Day 5 on Tuesday, they were running things they had never run.

“We’ve got so many plays going in right now,” Lawrence said. “It’s amazing compared to last year. We were just running base and nickel packages. We’ve got stuff we didn’t even run last year in.”

Gonna have to rely on a lot of blitz packages if we don't figure out 3 good corners and a couple backups for them.

in Aranda we trust

I think The defense should be pretty damn good

Only concerns are C.B 2 and with Edge rusher shows up, but I think Chaisson is going to be really good.

2019 article will read:

“Dave Aranda implementing the remaining 20% of his defensive playbook. We were very basic the first 4 years...”

2020 article will read:
“Steve Ensminger is implementing the next 6% of his offensive playbook. We only ran 7 plays last year because we were young and the scheme is complex.”

I believe you blitz more when you have corners you trust not the other way around.

Wish Orgeron would’ve let Canada do the same.

I'm not worried about the position. First off Chaisson will be a sophomore.

Jarrell Cherry was a RB until his team needed him at End. He anchored one of his high schools relay teams. He runs a 4.6 forty.

hudl video of him running anchor:
Cherry vs Richardson

Travez was the #1 rated player at his position for this class.

From Dave Aranda's interview with the Advocate.

quote:

"I’m excited about the people coming in. Physical, big, explosive guys. That’s needed. And we’ve got some edge rushers as well. You look at Travez Moore and Jarrell Cherry, guys we can put on the edge and set edges and win one-on-one in the pass rush."

Mike D on Dandy's:

quote:

Pass rushers are as hard to find today as quarterbacks. I’m not kidding about that. That 3-4 edge guy is really another pass rusher. I like what I have seen from Travez Moore who has size and great length and he can close in quickly on the QB. Dantrieze Scott is an interesting athlete and I give him a shot to play that edge rusher spot.

Jarell Cherry is a guy who intrigues me as a pass-rusher. Jarell is a speed/quickness guy and so how he handles the power of the SEC and how he can get off a much bigger blocker interests me. He’s relentless out in the field. In time, with some work on his techniques and hand usage, he can be a really good edge guy. He’s a player similar to what KeKe Mingo was when he hit LSU.

Hell Dare Rosenthal returned a fumble recovery for 74 yards and another one for 30 or more yards. He's pretty damn fast for a 6'7" 325 pound man. Put him out there and the TE's, O-linemen and QB's will be running backwards before the snap.

Our worst corners are better than most starters around the country. Quit being a bleeding sandy vagina

The spring PR info being released is at championship level. I sure hope that these declarations will be truthful this time.

This place has become so miserable, I’ve just decided I’m not listening to anything positive or negative and just waiting for the season.

Are you saying you think Dave Aranda is the equivalent of Lou Tepper?

Do not post anything positive or in the slightest anything optimistic. Almost everyone on this board is hoping the team fails just so They can say I told you so. Also get Orgeron and Alleva out the door .

Is Dave Aranda a good coach or not? You seem to be very conflicted on this.
