Had we ever gone undefeated since the championship series began?

2009 we lost one to Texas, 2023 we lost to Wake Forest and Florida.

Loads

I said it before the SEC tournament, this team could make a run. Two aces means you could sweep a Super and if it works out right, the Finals.

The emergence of Evans as a third starter gives you the bridge in the Regionals, and the first week of Omaha.

The progression of Shores, who has overwhelming stuff, to where he could go 1-2 innings before starting to lose the plate, gives you a hammer to close it out.

Interestingly enough we won our 8th straight tournament game for our 8th title.

Nice little run, on both accounts.

This team was quietly on the best teams in the past 25 years. 53-15 record is amazing as well

It’s funny the only ncaa tourney loss and elimination game was to the worst team in the field.

Little Rock could have, or maybe even would have, beaten anyone the way they played that weekend. That regional felt like the Twilight Zone especially considering how bad LR looked in the first game of the regional.

So, we ended the longest winning streak, and now have the longest active winning streak?

Little Rock could've gone on a 2008 Fresno run.

Ended coastal's, yes. Longest active? Probably, but not necessarily. Could be some team that didn't make the tourney ended on a hot streak, but seems unlikely. 8 wins is not a huge streak but I'd doubt anyone else has more.

The progression of Shores

To me this is comparable to Zach Hess' emergence in '17. Little different in terms of Hess being a freshman at the time vs Shores as a Junior but Hess found his role late as the Closer. Shores found his role as a late inning shutdown guy in the post season. He was the missing piece to allow Evans to be used in more of a starter role at times during the post season.

Huge fun.

And now the “what now?” is settling in.
