I'm an optimist. And I will always be with LSU till I die.
However, I do not like this hire. Maybe it all works out in the end and the worst of the detractors look foolish, but the outlook isn't good.

I hate this hire. Doesn't make me a bad fan. I'll pull for the guy and if he works out, I'll be thrilled. But this wasn't a time for LSU to hire a guy who we hope has improved from his past results. I think a lot of people feel that this hire reflects the state of the program. It's a sad realization and I don't blame people for being pissed.

We're not the worst fanbase in the country for having legitimate concerns about this hire, considering Steele's track record.
But I agree he should at least coach a game for us before we take to the streets with fire and pitchforks.

There are some miserable fricks in our fan base. Anything short of Bill Belichick and Dick Lebeau's love child is a massive fail by Les.

I'm typically a realist who tends to lean to the optimistic side. I think by every measure we can objectively use, this was a poor hire. Steele isn't a big name. He doesn't measure up to his predecessor, and getting him from Bama doesn't cripple them. Considering the names available and the time taken, Steele was not a smart choice.
All that said, I will hope that he succeeds. He was never DC for a squad that has as much talent as the one we have coming back next year (Bama's D was garbage in 07). Hopefully he can produce adequate results. I will wait and see before proclaiming the death of the program, etc.
All that said, if this doesn't work out, it is certainly the end f Miles, and likely the end for Alleva. He started this ball rolling and exposed the program to this situation. If anything, he should be fired by this time next year, no matter how this works out.
They both made their bed with this mess. I'm not melting or jumping off a bridge. But, I also have 0 excitement for recruiting, Spring ball, or next season at this point. This is the first time in a while I have felt that way. This hire is right there with 1/9/12 in sucking the optimism out of the offseason.
