Can we send this dude back to Vandy?

Wish I could give more upvotes. Great read, and doesn’t make me feel too bad about losing players to the portal.

I didn’t get people saying he should be RT and Jones to guard. Should have been the other way around. when Lance would come in last year when Emory would get nicked there was a very noticeable drop off.

I didn't agree with replacing Jones either, just thought the frame and strength would translate to immediately being a quality SEC starter. Obviously I was wrong.

Gilbert was brought in to start, which he did. All year. Hit.

Lol he wasn't good man. If every guy that we get out of the portal performs like Jardin Gilbert did, we are screwed. You also said Ochsendorf was a miss because he wasn't good.

I don't agree with your opinion that it was the board's opinion that Brown was a savior. In fact we all knew that he was a depth piece in case Alexander wasn't ready to play by season's start.

I mean you can go back and look at the threads if you want to.

Boosie must be related to Womack, steady defending him.

Lol I have no opinion on him. And have no problem with him leaving if we get someone better to replace him.

Great info and it shows one of three things:

1) took players of lesser rank and missed badly on talent evaluations

2) star ratings weren't warranted for the players you signed

3) players didn't fit the scheme/system you were running

That's a lot of players to lose in such a short period of time and creates depth issues and roster problems.

When he left Bastrop to attend Neville, it was rough. Many coaches wanted to send him back but he was a wrecking ball in high school

Where did you get those stats? This one caught my eye because we know Fitz and I thought he played more than 6 games. I am not sure if he was a backup or starter, but I felt like he rotated in a bit in the games I did see for ULL.

quote:

• Fitzgerald West (Louisiana): 7 tackles in 6 games (backup).

I looked him up and this is what is posted on the UL site

He appeared in 11 games. He had 7 solo tackles but also had 8 assisted tackles for a total of 15 tackles including a sack for an 18-yards loss. For the LSU guys you posted total tackles so I think this was simply an oversight.

Obviously against inferior talent but he did fairly well, I thought. But LSU is not really missing Fitz with the performances they got from Paez as well as McKinley as a freshman.

It is. And shows the portal is not going to save the team and send us into the playoffs.
Lucky if we get a couple of depth back ups.

CJ Daniels was so meh.

Needed much greater impact for this offense to be really good and consistent.

One potential change in the Portal going forward. While previous years may have been mosy either non starters or younger players looking for a new home.

Now, good players or ever starters will be testing the waters for a increase in $$ by schools looking to fill a hole. I think that will evolve each year and destroy smaller schools.
