Defense looks lost without Weeks

That’s now Dottery’s responsibility with Weeks out.

Dottery is too worried about talking smack after every single play regardless of if we get burned on the play or not. How we had no one to account for the QB is beyond me.

I wasn’t a fan of Kiffin burning the timeout on the first two point look. Defense would’ve stuffed that play more than likely.

I'm not sure if Keys is allowed to audible but when he slid out to the left he was supposed to audible the DL to stunt. The DE's are supposed loop around inside which would have killed the draw or any inside run. But again not sure if Keys is allowed to audible but anyway it goes this was the time Blake should have been in Zone not Man lol.

I posted in another thread about how much I fricking hate using a TO just because you “got a look” at their formation. They are going to adjust.

Save the TO for when you actually need it. Like when your linebackers get spread out and leave a 5 on 4 situation for an easy conversion, for example.

When people say “there’s 60 minutes in a game” they’re usually reminding you not to quit towards the end, not reminding you to start before halftime.

Maybe Baker is average more or less. His results suggest as much.

That’s Dottery’s responsibility. You can tell by the lines leverage and Gerald’s reaction that they all expected the A and B gaps to be covered by the backers.

No one was communicating.

Gerald’s was held. He was dragging the lineman trying to get to the gap.

It was very clear, as you say. I have no explanation of what Baker was thinking, and I assume we had no TO's or he could have seen it developing and told LK to call TO. I think LK may have called his last just a play or two before because of something the refs did, but not real sure at this point.
Very very strange D alignment, but great scheme by Sloan...it took two of our defenders out of the play entirely and of course our Dline slanted outside which if they didn't would have potentially foiled the play. Just bad football all around on defense

We are missing With Weeks badly. He is the leader of our defense on the field.

Barely but his leverage was still outside. The middle wasn’t his responsibility he just recognized it was open and tried to cover the mistake.

Ehhhhh

The safeties needed to be communicating with Dottery about the coverage and the fact that they were out leveraged in the middle.

None of them were talking.

Wrong. Safeties NEEDED to be wide on a bunched 3 wide offense. THE LINEBACKERS HAD THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE RUN. 4 DL' being blocker by, very good I might mention, OL's on a QB draw is 99% to work.

The result of that is on the players not Baker. We had no timeouts. They were in heavy tight sets ant the goal line every time, and were angain until they motioned out wide, ran the play in 3-4 seconds. Coaches can’t relay info to make adjustments that fast. The players have to ID that. Both of our linebackers went out wide leaving a hole in the middle you could drive a truck through.

Read what I said. I didn’t say the safeties needed to be in the middle. I said the safeties and backers to to communicate who had coverage so the backers could get back into the middle.

It should have been cover 0 once they went 5 wide, not cover 2. No one was talking and the defense remained in a cover 2 man because of it.

Even the line played outside leverage thinking they had backers covering the A and B gaps.

Yeah, the players had the opportunity to adjust but didn’t do it…
