Yep. Also, if you are worried about money, the question isn't whether or not KM can make the WBB program profitable, it's whether or not the hire will generate enough of an increase to cover her contract. I believe she can absolutely do that. That said, I like the hire because she is the perfect fit, not worried about the $.

I know UCONN WBB makes money.

Wrong.

None of UConn’s athletic teams, the basketball teams included, actually turn a profit. Football lost $8.7 million last year while men’s and women’s basketball lost $5 million and $3.1 million respectively.

GTFO. Mens basketball makes a small profit and the gymnastics program runs a multi-million deficit every year.

It's not like you can cut spending from other money losing programs, like Tennis and Soccer. It's against the law. Fantasies about football paying for everything, is just that, a fantasy. I have nothing against Mulkey, just the notion of throwing money at financial failures.

lol...right? I mean, it is the only thing keeping 99% of NCAA DI programs profitable.

Things are getting interesting for sure. She was supposed to be a guest play caller for Baylor’s spring game tomorrow, she has been scratched from that according to a tigerbait post on Facebook.

Hiring Mulkey isn’t about turning a profit. Its about a philosophy.

Exactly...you have to assume any of the women's sports will likely lose money. It's not just about losing as little money as possible. It's about a mindset of demanding every sport to be the best they can be in the national picture, and how that sport promotes the university. You have to hire someone, and what she can bring to the table are things that are more than just dollars and cents. Intangible things that help other areas in promoting LSU. An investment in being great that should be demanded of each sport.

Tomorrow is Baylor's spring football game. Women's basketball coach Kim Mulkey was scheduled to be a guest play caller on the sideline with Scott Drew and others. Now in a new release from Baylor she's no longer listed. #LSU #KimMulkey
