WBC Final, reminds me of the Japanese team playing at the Box

I know they beat LSU in 99. I can't remember if they were a pro team or college kids, but they were very fundamentally sound. They went around LA playing a lot of the colleges before the season started. Not sure when they quit coming down.

Watching Japanese teams take infield and outfield practice is mesmerizing.

LSU played Meiji University at the Box in 2000 and LSU won 10-7.
LSU played the Zephyrs at Zephyr Field in 2001 and 2002 and lost both times.

They really take pride in the fundamentals. Amazing how simple the game can be when you do the little things right
Hopefully their recent boy band craze will begin to shift their mentality to a more Americanized one and we can close the gap before it starts to get as wide as that gap between Michael Strahans teeth

Everything great once had or has great fundamentals.
The Japanese culture is amazing they take pride in most anything they do.

There’s a lot of truthiness in that for sure.
America has fallen way behind in that respect and not just in sports but that’s for another board.

It’s not a secret how humanity has destroyed themselves many times over the History of the World.
With Technology advancing as quickly as it is, and with the wrong people in charge it will happen to us as well.

You’re right. In the meantime we need to spend more time on infield practice and hitting the cutoff man

I lived in a small village in Japan, -20,000 people. Japan has a HS national baseball tournament that has enormous prestige and that tiny village won the national tournament twice. I'd go watch practice and it is LOUD (constant organized chatter) and super-super repetitive and organized. They have great commitment to team and fundamentals. Japanese baseball is kind of awesome.

LSU is solid right now in the Field currently.

I remember it being '99 cause I drove them to their game against Nicholls. I had the one guy on the team that spoke English in my van. He hands me a cd and asks to play it, pop it in and it's the Spice Girls in Japanese. I couldn't communicate with the rest of them, but cruising highway 90 the Japanese Spice Girls brought us all together that day.
