re: Way to go students, you got another song banned.

I hope I haven't given the perception that I condone or encourage the assholic behavior of the student section, I am just giving the rational behind it and suggesting possible ways to curb it in the future. You have to remember, these are drunk, stupid, young adults. They're not going to stop because "THE MAN" told them to. They're going to be faul-mouthed, ill-mannered, douchebags no matter what. However, if you scold someone like that in the way the administration has been doing, you're only encouraging blowback (yes, I just used a Ron Paul foreign policy term on the Rant). STTDB is blowback. If you remove the cause of the blowback or embrace it, blowback becomes uncool, because blowback can only exist in an environment where the action committed by the retaliating party is able to view itself as a rebel. If you're not being a rebel, if what you're doing is condoned or even encouraged, it eliminates its appeal.

Now I agree that banning the OWEO song was over the top. All I ever basically heard was "You suck" and five-year-olds say that. That's being too goody goody there. I only heard the more profane thing at maybe one game.

But let's not pretend that you know why STTDB was created...like they had a Declaration of Independence-style meeting of the students and this was created out of protest. It was most likely some drunk, 315 lb. student with his shirt off and saggy nipples bleeding from scraping the ground that was struck by a bolt of creative genius (in his own mind) at some game that randomly shouted it out...and thousands of followers did what they do - followed. That's usually how these things originate - give or take 150 pounds...I just thought it visually worked better with the heavier guy.

Here is the deal: You must have to take a course in "how to be a pure hypocrite" to be a higher education administrator. Les Miles (who is working under an unimpeachable multiyear/multi-milion dollar contract) goes full Quentin Tarantino in his post-game presser is given no notice, but this song must be banned. Here is an idea: Have enough security in the stadium to toss drunkin idiots out of the stadium when they do uncivil things. Case Closed.

I can't see any way this is true. You think the big donors on the sidelines are just going to willingly give up their chair back seats to move into the north endzone? Unless of course, they're moving the students to the upper decks. That could solve the problem of their profanities making it on air.

False. I was there I was a student. It was brought back and male genitalia was referred to immediately. The SG tried to pass out stuff changing it to L-S-U Tigers or something semi lame in a failed attempt to stop the lack of class and creativity, but it didnt work. You suck was yelled for a long time before the USC game with no administration backlash fwiw.
