That, and the punt return for a TD.
To me, that’s just as inexcusable as anything else that happened in that game and should never happen against a team like LSU. That was poor discipline and coaching on special teams.
Before Kentucky, the last time a team returned a punt for a TD against LSU was 2014 Florida, Andre Debose who had track speed.

I don't.
I blame the 77 yard run by Kentucky on the first play.
I blame giving up a punt return for a TD that never should have happened.
And even with that, all we had to do was stop Kentucky on one play from the 3 and we gave up the easiest QB draw ever. A LOT of people get blame for that play.
4th and 1 is not high on my list of "blame" for that game

You lost me at saying I don’t like baker. I actually really like baker. I just don’t like the decision he made in that moment. It was unnecessary

That’s fair. It ultimately didn’t result in them putting any points on the board.
They didn’t convert a 3rd down after that.
They didn’t get “momentum” or whatever until we punted on 4th & 1

Everything was there for us to win that game too with their fg kicker choking the way he did in the 4th. Hadn’t been that frustrated after a loss since Wisconsin at Lambeau.

If the 4th down is made which 99% woulda been then nothing else happens it's ball game nothing after that happens. Not hard to understand.

You got more downvotes than him.

Charmin soft zone that stopped nothing

Two ends went for the qb. If one goes for rb we stop them for a loss. Stop looking at results only. The play worked. We had an edge rusher unblocked and a safety with a chance to make the play.
There are a lot of people here who either completely ignore or dismiss the performance of paid players when talking about anything related to this defense.

I think the game was lost when on 2nd and 8 two plays before the 4th and 1 sequence Sam Leavitt ran what looked like a field goal centering play.
And Braelin Moore got beat. It was a slant towards the play by Kentucky, but it was a garbage playcall. Throw the ball there. College football has too many stoppages to worry about whether the other team has 1:20 or 1:35 on the clock when they get the ball back.

There were many reasons LSU lost that game. They had multiple opportunities to win it, actually, but the 4th-and-1 was a play that, if you get it, you basically 100% guarantee the win unless you are Mario Cristobal.

The game was lost in first half. Worst half we’ve played all year. Not even close.

Especially when all of the formation goes to the same spot

Or settling for two field goals on drives inside the 10, or not tackling a punt returner we had two hands on, or only scoring 3 points on our first 3 possessions in the second half.
