It was a rough start because they were winning the field position battle and had us pinned deep (that first “drive” was brutal) but once we got through that it was domination time.

I rewatch the first half of the OU game. My favorite part is when the announcer comes on at halftime and says "what we are watching is historic. And that's not strong enough of a word"

I wouldn't say LSU "didn't struggle at all" with Clemson. LSU trailed 17-7 at one point and didn't take the lead until 5:00 in the 2nd quarter. It was a 3 point game towards the end of the 3rd before LSU would eventually start to put it away.

Even when the game was tight on the scoreboard we were the class team on the field. That tightness was due to really, really bad field position.

Guy must have essentially be a student/fan of quarterback play. Joe made a dude in a Bama cap clap for LSU.

We sat in the OU section and a father and son wearing AU unis were next to us. The father was wearing a Bo jersey and the son was wearing a Cam jersey. One of the OU fans asked them what they were doing there. The father said, we are here for the Joe Show. The OU fan said, we are shutting down Joe tonight. The AU fans heckled the hell of that fan the rest of the game.

Lost Burrow, Aranda, and Brady

Brady? You mean Ensminger? People give Brady entirely too much credit it’s so disrespectful to Coach E.

Brady has proven that he isn’t the genius that people made him out to be. He was good with the direction and experience of Ensminger as well as our loaded roster.

Dude Ensminger gets plenty of credit.

All I know is the 2018 offense had all the same dudes, and we didn’t look anything like 2019. Then 2019 happened, we had Joe Brady, and had the greatest offense in college football history and looked way different.

This is beating a dead horse

I know I have posted this before, but the defensive backfield, which actually struggled earlier in the season, also had a fantastic run in the last 4 games. They faced 4 preseason Heisman candidates QB's and gave up only 1 passing TD compared to 6 interceptions. EPIC 4 game stretch to finish the perfect season.

You must not remember the 2018 offense down the stretch. It was taking shape late that season. Go back and watch the A&M and UCF games. It was there. Joe Brady just helped our receivers not drop balls and run better routes. Burrow did the rest.

I was thinking the other day, what would have been if O had been wise/fortunate enough to have kept Ensminger and Aranda for a couple more years.
When they left, the team was like a ship with no rudder, and Orgeron had no clue about how to fix it.

I think it was post Bama that I felt this team was unbeatable. No question. At the end of the day football is an incredibly easy game, who ever scores the most points will win, and it was impossible for anyone to outscore us.

Several were saying Lawrence was better than Joe before that game. Some still after before the draft.

I mean he was undefeated as a starter and did win the NC the year before including the biggest defeat for Saban at Bama. Statistically Burrow had a much better season thats obvious but talent wise both were elite. if they were in the same draft most scouts had Lawrence as a higher rated prospect.
***Please Note: Contrary to message board zero sum mentality that does NOT mean they thought TL would be a hall of famer and Burrow a scrub just simply that if given a choice BEFORE ever playing a down (that means what they’ve done in the pros can not be used as a factor) most scouts would have taken Lawrence first, he’s also 3 years younger

What’s even crazier is that we easily could’ve dropped 60 on Clemmy had Chase not misjudged a pass in the end zone and we don’t kneel inside the 5 to end the game.

I don't disagree. But in viewing the game without the benefit of hindsight, I don't think anyone (at the time) could say they felt fully comfortable LSU was going to win until Burrow hit Marshall for the TD in the fourth. The other two games felt like they were over at halftime...or at least early in the 3rd quarter.

Without Brady, LSU's offense produced exactly ZERO points in 8 quarters vs Alabama. One of those games featured Burrow at QB, CEH (available) at RB, Jefferson, Chase, Marshall, etc. Does anyone actually believe Ensminger was just sitting on the 2019 offensive concepts for several years just waiting for the right time to unleash it? Even if "hiding it" meant pitching two shutouts vs. LSU's most hate rival? Give me a break.

Ensminger deserves immense credit for recognizing the offense needed an injection of more modern concepts and having zero ego in allowing a young, first time, OC to essentially take control of the offense. Very few veteran coaches would have had the lack of ego to allow that. In many ways, Ensminger was the drivers ed teach who allowed Brady to drive the car with Ensminger only tapping the breaks occasionally if thing got a bit loose. But to think Brady wasn't the main architect of the 2019 offense is ridiculous.
