Reminds me of another ASU guy, Jake Plummer…hard to bring down and not the smoothest, but just weaves in and out of traffic

I keep thinking of John Fourcade.
“ John Charles Fourcade, Jr. (born October 11, 1960) is an American former professional football player who was a quarterback for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Ole Miss Rebels. Fourcade was the most valuable player of the 1982 Senior Bowl after passing for 115 yards and running for 33 yards and two touchdowns. One thing I've noticed about Sam's running, and I know it's only one game that I'm considering here (not even counting his asu film for this exercise) is that he seems like once he starts to scramble he's pretty much locked into running.
It's kind of a toss up to me if this is a net positive or potentially a hindrance. On the one hand his commitment allows him to be more decisive and just get fricking going, but on the other I would almost like to see him continue to be working down the field options and be able to throw once he escapes the immediate danger.
Not sure if this is accurate, or if this is what coaching is telling him to do, or if it's his instincts, and again- pretty small sample size. I trust that the coaching will get him on board with what they want though

Yeah, I see a bit of that, maybe some Bo Nix as well. the shiftiness in eluding tacklers downfield gave me some Matt Mauck vibes to. Now I'm speaking only in terms of running style nothing else.

What? Manziel accumulated just under 10,000 yards and 93 TDs in two college seasons. What he did in the pros is totally irrelevant to this conversation. Pro careers don't devalue what someone does in college. Hell, look at Tebow...arguably one of the greatest college football careers ever and he stunk in the pros. Doesn't make what he did in college any less impressive.
You just made me defend two of my least favorite players of all-time. Thanks a lot.

There have been many GREAT college QBs whose game didn't translate to the NFL.
