Receivers look like they bailed him out on several underthrown balls. Gotta give a lot of credit to that WR group....they definitely made some plays for their QB. I think we'll be fine against OU but underthrown balls will definitely be challenged in a much bigger way VS OSU or Clemson.

They are basically back shoulder throws. And I have not seen anyone be able to stop back shoulder passes. Chase high points the ball with the best of them so I don’t see that changing anyway. The offense is fine, our D will determine if the team wins it all

You do realize that coaches these days teach their QBs to under-throw deep balls? Its called giving your WR a chance and/or making the referee throw a flag.

Geez, some of you people are dumb as shite.

zachary... so, it'd be a crime to ever overthrow Chase.

Any word from Buckeye Jeaux on Terrance Marshall being given a key to the JUGS machine in the last 2 weeks?

I was Kinda concerned about this too.

But then Chase Mossed a first round CB on an underthrown ball Vs Alabama.

If you’re in 1-on-1 coverage and your WR knows what’s going on, it’s a jump ball, and I don’t mind the throw, as I assume Out WRs have better hands and ball skills.

FWIW I would never throw one
Of these against Stingley. He’s absolutely the best at defending these passes.

Why in the frick would you ever underthrow a pass when the receiver have a step or two on the DB. I can remember a few passes where it did not benefit Joe to underthrow a pass.

The OP has a decent point, but too many people have P&G glasses on.

You sir, are dumb as shite.

There's only 2 MAYBE 3 under-thrown balls that whole video that you could argue shouldn't have been under-thrown...One of which he was getting hit as he threw and couldn't step into.

Back shoulder passes are always hard. Like "did he do that on purpose or not?", but the guy is so damn good I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say almost all of them were right where he wanted them.

Yes the receivers deserve credit, but it's not like they haven't gotten it.

Sure but it's better to underthrow it than overthrow it. At least you still have a chance to gain yards. An overthrow is an incompletion every time.

Because the hype he has received.. he’s had a lot of underthrowss that no one talks about because his receivers fix his mistake for him by catching

"Underthrown" is the most over-used and misunderstood term on this board.

An overthrown ball never gets caught. A so-called underthrown ball very often does.

The "strike zone" at 40 yards is at least 10 feet by 10 feet (if the strike zone is 3 feet by 3 feet on a 10 yard throw)... do the geometry

World of difference between zone an man coverage on the long ball. In man, the DB seldom has any idea where the ball is. WR has a huge advantage on a so-called "underthrown" ball.

And in some situations, a QB intentionally underthrows.

In most cases, Burrow's throws are well within the 10'x 10' strike zone for a 40 yard pass.

AMAZING that some Ranters persist in trying to hang a "Underthrows" tag on the most accurate passer in college football. Comical, really.

no the frick they dont. good lord.

Burrows stats and accomplishments speak for themselves without the need to make up bullshite notions of purposefully underthrowing deep balls when the defender has a step on the cb.

it's not some huge knock to admit JB has underthrown some deep balls. you're inability to admit even the slightest bad thing about Burrow is comical. it's ok little guy. even the greatest qbs to ever walk the earth have underthrown some deep balls.

What is the dimension of the strike zone at 40 yards.

I'm convinced you honestly believe it is the same as it is at 10 yards

You don't get a 79% comp rate without your receivers being incredible

Not to mention deep balls are taught to be a little short if anything.

We're not of the opinion that we would rather Joe overthrow a pass instead of underthrow. We would rather Joe NOT underthrow a pass when the WR has a step on the defender. We would like him to put the ball on the money.
