I have Roku but I think it's a bandwidth issue with AT&T. What's your fix?

If anyone is using a Roku with WatchESPN and having this issue,
I have roku and it freezes quite a bit. With the same wifi it works fine on my ipad or phone so I am sick of hearing its a problem with my wifi. It was fine when I first got the roku but started giving me issues last season. Also everything else, including live streams in other sports, seem to work just fine.

Last night's game froze on me quite a bit. I'm using my Xbox to watch, via the ESPN app. It can't be my ISP or my home network because it only froze during commercial breaks. If you're gonna freeze that's the right time to do it but it's still frustrating.

I had similar issues. My Roku worked fine with no buffering for Netflix, Amazon, Youtube, but WatchESPN would pause every 2 to 3 minutes. So, I knew it was not a bandwidth issue. And because WatchESPN worked fine on my PC on the same network, I knew it was not an issue with WatchESPN.
The 90% fix I found is this:
Using your original Roku remote from the home screen: Press Home Key 5 times, then rewind key 3 times, then fast forward key 2 times. This brings you to a hidden screen where you can select your download speed. Leave it on Auto but turn on Debugging then exit out. Now when you use WatchESPN you will see a Debug screen showing your download speed for about 30 seconds and then it goes away. I have found that leaving it in debug mode reduces the buffer error to about once and hour - still not great but much better. Please post here if it works for you.

Is it possible to watch multi-screen on WatchESPN? It used to be on ESPN3.

This worked for about 15 minutes and then froze up. Sucks because Roku gives me a better pic than AppleTV.
Oh, well, at least I can watch LSU on HD in some format. Beats the hell out of the old radio days from just a few years ago.
Thanks for the info. Maybe I can massage it into working on my equipment some day.

Trying it again at 10:30 p.m., and working well for a good stretch. Hope it is the fix.

I find that Android watchESPN runs much more smoothly than on windows.
This based on the app running on the same dual boot system… android is much smoother.

I agree. On my xbox1 the app freezes but on my appleTV it works like a charm.

I have ATT and many people are having issues this year
Yup. I've used it for several years with no issues. Suddenly, this year, nothing but issues. I get an error when trying to load the game video.
