You can make an argument that bad tackling is a result of effort not coaching, but not locating the ball, bad angles and poor recognition are all directly tied to bad coaching.

House is one of the highest paid coordinators in the sport, that is laughable. shite.

Remind me again why LSU paid top dollar for a guy that nobody would have even come close to paying that much as their DC? Reminds me of LSU giving Pelini top dollar for coming back when no one else would have even come close to paying that much. When it comes to hiring coaches LSU needs to do some research on paying a guy that is in demand what he is worth. The second installment of Pelini and house should have been paid at most 1 million per year. Nobody else would have even come close to paying them that.

lsu is doing a horrendous job of evaluating talent in the portal!

Pretty much as good as we possibly could ask for in a backup QB from the portal. Not sure how that is a reach. This former scout realizes you don't draft the kids in the portal right?

Mike Detillier is not a scout and has never been one.

So you’re friends with Mike Detillier?
he was and never will be a “scout”. Freaking dude was an engineer who talks sports. His claim to fame is the daughter of Hap who got his arse talking about sport.

He was a VERY successful DC at UK before heading to KC. One of the premier defensive players in the history of LSU football, T Mathieu not only supported and lobbied for him, stated he was the most intelligent coach he ever worked with.
LSU had the 5th ranked scoring defense in the conference last season and 22nd overall. That was with players that could hold up on the backend.

I’m in no way saying House should be retained. However, you simply have to evaluate the entire picture of what happened right before and during the season on massive losses of key players and having to play freshmen out of position. You have freshmen safeties playing CORNER IN THE SEC. This will not work and the result was evident.

The poor tackling is my biggest issue.

Playing the player and not looking back for the ball is to make up for lack of hips to play corner and having to run fast to keep up with faster receivers.

There are a couple reasons why.

I texted your post to my neighbor who is an NFL scout and his response was just a string of emojis. I think he doesn’t agree and questions the intelligence of your scout.

I watched the game with Vince Lombardi and George Halas yesterday, and they said the same thing.

Sounds like you more than any scout! One statement you said LSU does horrible job evaluating talent in portal then you say if we can fill holes with the portal we will be ok. What? House lost this team. They did not want to play for him.

If guys, after a season, still can’t get the angles right- it’s coaching. If players are incapable of getting the angles right- it’s evaluation, which is still coaching.

I can't believe people still are saying it's one or the other.

It was clearly coaching and players not learning the right habits and techniques.

It's also been clear to many of us that this defense wasn't as talented as some of you thought.

I know before the season I mentioned it.

...LSU has to win that opener against USC. Personally, I believe they should have gone with a Rent-a-Win for their opener, but that's just me.
