It really wasn't as close a game as it felt and as I remember. And in retrospect with Burrow and co.'s confidence, I don't think it was ever in question for them.

Defense played well first half and the offense finally caught a groove. Texas was slippery and put points up, but the D still put up a fight, and the offense never felt stressed in the watchback. Pretty sure we never trailed?

It was the same story for the rest of the season. Some games weren't blowouts, but were never very much in question. Auburn was as close as it got. Freaking wild. The machine was already unstoppable.

Disagree, and feel we would pull it out, but I remember both teams scoring at will towards the end, and without 3rd and 17, I thought they could have won, when the game was live. Watching it now is easier to say, either way, but I was on edge during that game, and thought it was much closer than you describe

I haven’t watched in awhile but didn’t they get 2-3 goal line stops back to back. Didn’t their RB drop a wide open pass? I remember saying if we didn’t score a TD on 3-16 it was over, as we seemed gassed. Hell the onside kick had me nervous.

That was 1 of 5 games that year that shouldn't have been as close as they were. The defense got it's act together Arkansas and on, but it was frustrating to see Burrow have to play as long as he did because the defense couldn't put it away.

LSUs defense was gassed and Swiss cheese toward the end of that game. If 3rd and 17 doesn’t happen there’s a very real chance we lose.

Hell they went down and scored after 3rd and 17 and almost got the onside kick!

We got off to a rough start that game and we’re very lucky that it wasn’t 14-0. We got into a nice groove before half but then started slow in the second half.

I saw all the Texas fans leaving after 3rd and 17 and I thought they were nuts as there was still time for them to get back in the game, especially with the D gassed.

Was there and we were on the edge of our seat. Was a great game and in my top 10 that I’ve experienced.

I was the most nervous during that season during the Texas game. I remember having a huge sigh of relief after

Yea y'all are missing what I'm saying. That was the most nervous game of the season by far watching live as a fan.

Watching it again, the team never felt nervous or worried like we as fans watching it. Seeing it later in a more objective position almost as an outsider, less emotional knowing the outcome, the game is much different. It felt like LSU's to lose. They dropped an easy TD in the first half and we summarily gave them the ball back just to stop them on fourth and goal a second time. We settled for a field goal after a dropped TD later on. Give points, take points after the fact.

It just wasn't as close in retrospect as it was watching live.
