They said Tanks bomb would have a routine fly ball earlier in the game

The orientation of the park is a joke. The fact it plays into the teeth of prevailing winds and has shadows in the evening is a joke.

Complaining about choppers getting over corner in fielders is dumb though.

yep. its too big, the wind blows in, and the sun blasts the outfielders in primetime. the footing seems questionable too.

Had several here that have been calling for a change to the fields over the last few days. Nobody likes the fields.

One day im gonna need someone to sit me down and explain why ballparks are allowed to have different dimensions in baseball. I’ve always known, but never really understood why thats a thing

Easy answer ball parks are shoe horned into any where they can cram them in. Usually unwanted spaces. i.e. Auburn, Boston Red Sox, Vande

While its fun to see them melt, i dont disagree about the construct and alignment of the field, along with the built in shadows in the evening

This, the venue has produced a ton of close games but utterly killed the best offenses in college baseball frankly...and to me a big draw to college baseball over MLB for a long time has been the offense.

I think the last guy in OP was pretty spot on, the venue is great for a lot of things but it produces offensive shite fest games due to the size and how the wind usually blows in it. There were 7 of the top offenses in college baseball in the CWS this year and nobody has been able to throw up more than 6 runs in any 1 game.

We've seen constant hard hit balls just get caught in wind and become routine looking flyouts. Fantastic if you're a pitcher, I mean Sam Dutton would probably have a sub 3 ERA if he always pitched in this park

It's been nice watching some pitchers come around for us this CWS but I have to wonder how much the park has actually helped some of them to a degree. Hurd's stats look great in the CWS but how many times have you held your breath on a hard hit ball from him this CWS? Been a few for me

It was amazing to see how Jay Johnson completely changed fields every half inning so we didn’t have to play in the shadows, overcome the Sun in LF, go against the wind or have issues with the distances or the hard infield.

Jay completely snookered Walters.

The grass/surface conditions are fine and nothing unique about them.

They're dead on about the direction of the field. The wind and sun are game killers. But every team has to deal with it.

Field sucks but has nothing to do with the infield. In fact the grass on the infield is longer than most parks. So no, his bunt would not have acted differently in an MLB park.

They had a hit/bunt that literally died down the third baseline last night. Hardly made it half way there.

if you think about it, we left 2 outs on the table with the LF glare issue in foul territory early, and the failure to challenge the pick at first. its crazy when you consider how close this game was.

In other games, sure. The wind wasn't blowing in from left field all night, there was wind going from right field foul pole towards left field foul pole even early.

that exact same bunt would have scored the run 95/100 times.

That exact same bunt would have scored the run 999 out of 1000 times. It was that special of a play - smarts, speed, fielding, throw, and tag…all of it.

Who said this and why?

His HR was more of a liner and not a towering shot. I think the exit velo was over 105 mph and it traveled like 398 feet, to left center. No wind was stopping that ball. It was deep into the stands.
