Look if we exhaust all efforts on better candidates and have to settle for him ok. But he's not the target he's a mid major guy who's never advanced and the guy he's followed who had more success is a flop. He's not Shaka smart and Smart is a bust is that what we want? When we can get consistent big league winners.
Here we go again. Sucks that Alleva is not talking with Calipari's or Bill Self's agents. Too bad some coaches don't always produce at a bigger school. Florida was stupid for taking Mike White from La Tech.

If someone ever answered "Stansbury" in response to the word "winner" in a word association exercise, their psychiatrist would immediately have them institutionalized.

What does DALSU have to say on this?

Crean won the big 10 last year and twice in the last 5 years. Stansbury was only behind billy Donavan as far as wins in the sec for his tenure at state. He had unprecedented success at state and recruits Louisiana better than anyone in the COUNTRY!

Over Will Wade? In a New York second. But he's not my first choice Collins is.

The current daily NCAA Basketball RPI indicates that about 40% of the teams in the top 50 are from outside Power 5 conferences. Power 5 reach down to lower level conferences all the time for head coaches. The Villanova coach was at Hofstra when hired, the Arizona coach was at Xavier when he was hired, and Florida's coach was plucked from Louisiana Tech to name just a couple examples.

and has never made it past the second round of the NCAA Tournament...The very definition of meh. You know what you are getting with him. Give me Wade, maybe he will crash an burn, we cant go much lower than we are now, or just maybe you have hired the next big thing and he turns LSU into a big winner. Stansbury will never do that.

Tell me why you dont like Wade. Tell me how you know he is a bad coach, and why he will fail here.
That is a question, not me putting words in your mouth.
For me, I'm not sure Wade is the next great coach or not.
Still the hire seems lazy. It's as if you said name 5 credible mid major programs in the tourney this year and offer the job to the most hireable guy.
I'm not sure I like AD's as job recruiters. Let the AD manage the coaches but find someone else to go find the coach.

You want stansbury over wade? Stansbury is a nicer john brady without the skins on the wall and the players in the pros. Yourself...kill it.
Thanks for the info OP. Get it done Joe.

but I get the arguments against, our conference has been littered with guys that parlayed a hot tourney run into a big gig only to disappoint
True. But if nothing else, it would be a step in a different direction.
Trent Johnson was an established coach who had great success at Nevada and Stanford before coming here. We know how that worked out.
Jones was a "familiar face" from the glory days with a long, relatively unimpressive record as a HC. Obviously that didn't work out.
I'd much rather Prohm, or Williams or Drew. However, with none of those guys appearing very likely (bad combination of good current situations + an AD who doesn't want to invest in basketball), then why not take a shot on the young up and comer. Especially if the realistic alternative is a 57 year old long-time mid major coach.
If Wade doesn't work out, then so be it. At that point I think it would be ABUNDANTLY clear Joe Alleva has no clue what he is doing and that LSU's plan for basketball (if they have one) is not working

I'm sure there's a point in there somewhere but the mid major days are done. Transfers are going to end their slight push through the tourney from 09 until last year. We won't be seeing multiple Cinderella steams anymore. As far as producing coaches of course they can but not all are the same and Wade hasn't done anything if note.

I honestly don't know enough about wade yet to have an informed opinion on him, I like what I see on paper though.

Typical childish response from an ignorant poster.

Where did this bullshite narrative start? The chalmette kid that's only going there because his uncle or some shite is on staff? Stansbury has pulled a few kids out of La but hardly any to lose sleep over.
