A clue.
Coaches can’t pay players directly even with NIL. They can’t exchange jobs and they definitely can’t pay gush money to baby mamas to cover up NCAA violations.

Coaches and schools can’t pay players. It wasn’t legal under Wade, and it isn't legal now.
I really liked Will Wade, wish he was still here. But I’m kind of amazed that some of our fans don’t understand why he’s not (still here) and even more shocked that they want to blame anyone other than Will Wade.

But let’s say he donated the money to Gordon McKernan…..Gordon could get it done right. Which is essentially Wade paying players out of his pocket right?
I mean the semantics with you Wade haters is amazing. Ultimately what the man did is legal today…..also he isn’t going to be punished by the NCAA so what did he do that was so wrong and not warrant a punishment?

At the root of Wade’s “issue” was the fact that players were getting paid.
Are players not getting paid legally today to play collegiate basketball? The “who” of the paying doesn’t fricking matter because no matter who we’re told the “who” is we have know way of knowing where the money originated. That is fact.
The fact that you are telling me other coaches aren’t paying players, even before NIL, shows me how naive you are. On the same FBI tapes that implicated Wade (on allegations that he won’t be punished for criminally or by the NCAA BTW) many other coaches were implicated.

I like Will Wade and wished he was still the coach but he also was an a hole in the athletic department and not many people liked him.
If you gonna be shady you might want to make sure the people in control of hiring/firing you at least like you as a person. If not, they are going to get ready if you the first chance they get.

Dude no one cares that players were getting paid. We’ve been paying players for decades. Wade was dumb with how he went about it and in return got caught, putting our program in jeopardy.
