This letter tells me Alleva has been bombarded with negative comments.
Also, if I read correctly, in his comments on the defensive problems of 08 he does not expect the offense to finish 112 in the country again.

Definitely the beginning of the end. Miles will have the 2nd longest tenure as a LSU hc in history.

He doesn't know his arse from a hole in the ground if that's his take......Yea, maybe the offense won't finish 112, but is finishing 75, 90, 100 any worse? With the talent we have it's totally unexcusable to finish anywhere about 50.
Plus, at least Miles made a change to the defense last year to get that ship somewhat righted, unless something happens and Crowton leaves, I don't see us getting markedly better.

He points to bringing Chavis in as a good move for improving the offense. But does not mention Crowton.
Der.
This is called "spin".
You don't want to mention the negatives that don't support your point. You mention the positives and hope the reader doesn't bring up the negatives ...assuming said reader has a mechanism by which to do so.

I was surprised Alleva sent this out. I guess he was getting a lot (more than expected) of negative feedback from the fanbase.

Heck of a job UltraTiger89, I mean, Brownie.

If this were the NFL it would mean he is about to get fired

This tells me that the AD really does concern itself with the discontent of the fans. I'm sure someone will have an a-hole response to this, but doesn't this letter point to the AD actually noting the emails that have been sent in by people who've posted about doing so...you know, the posts from members who talk about emailing the folks in the administration and why you should too? I've never emailed anyone in the Athletic office, but I know a lot of members have and when they post about it, they're hit with a lot of negative responses like "nobody cares about your dumbass letter." Looks like the AD has taken notice.

It's disheartening to hear that the amount of negative emails necessary to spur a response of any kind is "more that expected" instead of "any".
Sure, every year people are going to be pissed about something, but a 14-yr old mallrat chick can point out the glaring issues our team had this year. The AD shouldn't just write off all of the fans as raving lunatics with inordinate amounts of passion.
Those are the people that pay all of their multi-million $ salaries...whether they like it or not.

I like the fact that he wrote this very public letter. However, I am reminded of the current Dominos pizza commercials in which they read letters from supposed customers critiquing their pizzas. The employees, top to bottom, all state that they take this feedback seriously, talk about making changes, and what the changes will be, yet, in spite of all these words, their pizza is still terrible.

I love how Alleva finished the letter with some serious positive spin: "so let’s celebrate the fact that LSU football is thriving and the crystal ball is always in reach."
Thriving? Sure, Joe. Then why did you feel the need to give a state of the union address highlighting the positives of Les Miles, most of which occurred 3 plus seasons ago. Crystal ball Always in reach? Our chances at sniffing the crystal were over before November the last two seasons. For him to write this letter, he and TAF must have gotten a shite ton of emails. I sent my fair share of emails.

doesn't it beg the question of why Crowton is still employed at LSU ?
Multi year contract.

Any four losses that include Alabama, Ole Miss, and Arkansas will end his tenure at LSU.
I guarantee it.
I guarantee it.

I think like Miles Alleva is concerned about his job and has said in the letter Miles will turn it around. If he doesn't he's gone. Athletic donations are directly proportional to the Football teams success.

I just finished reading mine in my e-mail and came here to see the love.

since alleva has been here he has been posting these letters online... he likes doing them... "fans" are annoyed with the quality of the team and the AD should address that... he does so in an online letter to calm the masses to say 'hey, we hear ya'... but that doesn't mean that they take the letters "seriously" or allow the letters to determine decisions they make....
at the end of the day, all this letter really does is say "we know there are issues but we aren't going to do anything about them... but we are aware and maybe someday we will do something"
I guess i prefer actions over words... but that is just me-- don't tell me you are going to fix it, just go fix it.

AT least we know that he is aware of the fans disdain for Crowton and Miles. He would not have taken the time to remind us all of what we already knew - Miles' record - if he hadn't been hearing from a lot of people that Miles and Crowton need to go.

Can't remember too many coaches that got a vote of confidence at a school and stayed there for more than 2 years afterward
