Very sobering to realize if not for penalties and FSU drops we lose this one by 40.

Can only think of one drive where we stopped them ourselves.
Of course if Lacey doesn’t drop his it is also a different game. But we never really stopped them. And we didn’t always look like we were going to score ourselves.

Our coverage was really bad as were the third down defensive play calls. Run defense and pressure was ok through three quarters and then fell apart.
But passing defense was 2020 miss state bad when Hunter had any time to throw. 80% conversion rate on 3rd/4th down including 5-6 conversions on 3rd and 7 or longer

It was 80 percent coaching. We left 14 pts on the table in the first half by not being able or willing to go under center. FSU did it several times in short yardage. We obviously made no halftime adjustments. And who knows what we are doing with Perkins. It wasnt a talent difference it was a coaching difference.

I do not like to be in the shotgun in very short yardage situations, Why not go under center, have a fullback help pave the way, and the OL push the pile forward? Or try a QB sneak if the ball is 1/2 yard away.

Or if we had an O-line that could block enough to make 4th and 1.
Another year, another year with a porous line.

FSU returned 17 starters and has legit players on both sides of the ball. Anyone that underestimated this team wasn’t paying attention. We got curb stomped by a more talented more experienced team.

I think our own coach underestimated them.

LSU had the ball on the FSU 1 on the first drive: 0 points.
LSU got the ball down to the FSU13 on the 3rd drive: no points.
If you want to play hypotheticals at least be fair

FSU had some really bad drops from wide open receivers that were drive killers for them as well

1st and goal at the 2 and you throw it 3 times. That is not what a good team does. You man up and run it 4 times.
Shows the mentally of the coaching staff and the weakness of the OL

This. For anyone who didn't watch the game, I feel like the score was pretty indicative of what happened on the field. Both teams made lots of errors that kind of canceled out over the length of the game.

This true, but if you talk like this, what happens if LSU converts both 4th downs in the redzone, and Lacy and Thomas hang onto the football? You can’t just say well if FSU does this we lose by even more. LSU made plenty of errors as well.

They need to make the move to Heard at RT and Jones at RG this week and just roll with that. Frazier got his arse handed to him last night. Turner will always be just average at run blocking, but putting a better guy to his right will help him.
That at least gives a shot to have a good OL by mid-season, especially considering we will only face one or two more front 7s as good as FSUs, and they are much later in the season.

But hey!, We have great hype videos. And free purple sunglasses and beats.....

Curb stomped is right, but the point is it could have been much worse. They really could have prevented the garbage time score at the end.
BK has a lot of work to do. We can say it was a talented, experienced team, 17 starters, blah, blah, blah. How would you sugar coat the A&M curb stomping?
