I am looking at more than just football. That's why I said UVA. They have the far superior AD, academics. Brings in the same markets. And if we want Duke and UNC basketball fans. Let's just bring in Duke and UNC

This thread is what got me to finally sign up. I visit the fark board all the time. And sad though it is, I got about 62,000 posts on rivals. so I'm not a drive by poster. I'll drop in here and visit on occasions. Talked to a lot of LSU guys on rivals back in 2007, and found them to be a good bunch of folks. And I'm one of the few people I know that can watch Swamp People and understand every word without seeing the subtitles. Now that, is impressive.

It's about expansion, not football. If football was the only thing to consider for expansion, do you Mizzou would be in the SEC. WVU would of been more likely.

VT-UVA rivalry is pretty underrated. In my biased opinion, I guess Tiger Droppings is finding out the hard way.

Hell, I don't even watch Swamp People, Duck Dynasty or any of those.
And I will say I have many great friends that are VT fans(UVA too). I did enjoy going to the game in 02(well as much as I could with that shittastic performance). I just don't want y'all in the SEC. I actually want y'all in the Big 12 so the WVU rivalry can restart.
Do stick around, always nice to have a different perspective. But I will never talk nice about VT.

The swamp people reference was the most redneck response I could think of.

UVA is in a much better position to have both. Academics don't change much with time. You'll continue to be the 3rd or 4th best school in the state, and UVA will continue to be 1st.
Football does, however, swing in a matter of years. We're on the upswing with recruiting and have taken over a lot of the to VA talent. You can bask in the glory now...that's fine. But you know it won't last forever.

You still live in DC area? I have a brother in Marshall and one in Delaplane. I usually get up there in October and run the MCM10K. Missed last year but planning to make it again this year. Hell of an event. And I'm an old man so running 10K is a good thing for me.

Why did this spill out of the SEC rant?
My choice would be UVA. VT might have the better football program, but Virginia is (to me) the premier school in the state. If we're gonna take on another set of schools, we need to take the top schools.
