None but if I had to choose I would bring in Virginia, better overall athletic program from top to bottom.Plus they can play in the east and make it an even easier division.

VT.
Blacksburg is pretty close to knoxville relatively iirc. could be a good rivalry there.

i know many VT fans, they would fit in well in the SEC. better than mizzou for eff's sake.

Blacksburg is a few hours from Knoxville, but it's a shitty town full of mountain people. Blacksburg is more appalachia than the south. Charlottesville, while in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, is much more of a traditional southern town. I'd venture to say that Charlottesville would compete with Athens as the best college town in the SEC if UVA was to join. Also the campus would immediately be the most historically important and picturesque. The culture at UVA also fits much better with the SEC, even if the academics may fit better with the Big Ten. The only reason I'm reticent to push for UVA to join is that I don't want to have to choose who to root for when they play LSU. It sucked in the CWS a few years ago.

Met, i have to say i don't know much about UVA. i've only met a couple of fans and they reminded me of ole miss fans, lol. i did have an epic trivia battle with a wahoo back in the day.

UVA seems to me like a school that should do better in athletics than it does. are academic standards a roadblock?

edit: btw i like the comparison with athens since UGA is probably my favorite away trip in the SEC.

Does the SEC even have Lacross? If not, UVA wouldnt come since its the only sport they are competitive in.

Va. Tech and not close. UVA is a good school and a pretty campus, but they would not fit the SEC. VT fans care most about football and are generally more "Southern."

I would welcome, either, though.

Virginia Tech. UVA seems to be too much like Ole Miss, only smarter. However, a road trip to anywhere in Virginia would be awesome. Blacksburg/Roanoke is awesome.

For the 3,414th consecutive day, UVA has failed to beat the Hokies in football.

Go drink a zima and watch your spring game with the other 199 uva fans. Coming off the worse VT football season in 2 decades (in which we still beat uva), we will still have 50,000+ fans at our spring game.

Uva does not have a football following. Considering the SEC is a football conference, uva does not belong.

With regards to your opinion of Blacksburg, I can't seem to find Charlottesville on this list...

Maybe you think Blacksburg is a shitty town because every time you've gone there you've had a shitty time. Losing will do that to you

TCU and drop Mizzou.

The Dallas area is a much better fit for the SEC instead of those Canadian schools.

haha, yes, VT is better at football. I actually have had a great time in Blacksburg before, but it just doesn't compare to CVille IMO. You can stop being mad, my post was all in good fun and my "hatred" of VPI is rather contrived and mitigated compared to rivalries in the SEC.

Football apathy. Another reason uva would not fit in the SEC.

Most don't even know they have sports other than football. Like I have said before. As soon as football ends, a large portion of their fans turn into Duke or UNC fans.

As a New Orleans native, I have anything but apathy for football. In fact, I wish there was more emphasis on football within the UVA athletic dept. My mollified disdain for VT has more to do with the fact that I didn't grow up in VA and therefore didn't develop any real rivalries with classmates that extended to college. I find it hard to really abhor VT anymore than I would Maryland or UNC or Duke. It's just another ACC school that happens to reside in the same state where I went to college.

I thought Va Tech would've been a far better choice than Missouri at the time. Would've made way more sense geographically at least.

But tv market share and money trumps all. The SEC wanted to bring that lucrative St Louis/KC market into the fold, so Missouri it was.

I find that funny. I didn't move to VA till I was 15, and never went to UVA, but the first thing I learned when I moved there was to HATE VT. I always thought they were extremely overrated. And almost 20 years later they still haven't really beat a good team. What 1-28 or something all-time against top 5 teams

They are overrated and are more or less a paper tiger from a national perspective. However, coming from a UVA perspective, it is silly to chide them for their pretender status considering they have owned us during Beamer's tenure.

IMO, if UVA joined the SEC, they would have as much success as VT in the long run provided the athletic department committed to football in earnest.
