BNYM Stock IDX IS for 401k contributions - wahootiger on 3/20/19 at 7:09 am
I recently changed jobs, and my new employer's 401k is through Fidelity. I've always used Vanguard, but I understand that Fidelity has some good options for index funds. In my Vanguard accounts, I am either invested in the total stock market index or the S&P 500 index, as I am 32 and plan on letti...

5:15 hour layover in Lisbon - venture out? - wahootiger on 1/21/19 at 7:59 am
Looking at flights for a September honeymoon in Italy. The best price/itinerary I'm seeing for the outgoing trip is Dulles --> Lisbon --> Florence. We live in Richmond. The flight into Lisbon arrives at 10:45a and leaves at 4:00p (getting into Florence around 7:00p). Does this give me enough...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (4)
Has anyone flown TAP Air Portugal - wahootiger on 1/14/19 at 10:23 am
We're hawking flights for a honeymoon to Italy in late September. The plan right now is to focus on Tuscany and the Amalfi Coast, so we are looking at flying into Florence and out of Rome/Naples. We're primary looking for flights out of DC (we live in Richmond, VA), and a lot of the cheaper flig...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (3)
re: Richmond, VA - wahootiger on 12/8/18 at 11:26 am
Sorry for the delayed response. Life, work, etc. I'd second everything McVick said. He's also got the skinny on the best beer in town, though there are a lot of great options. A few more recommendations: Most of the bars/restaurants near the National are going to be on Grace street a few ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: Richmond, VA - wahootiger on 12/4/18 at 12:01 pm
Currently live in Richmond. Downtown is safe enough, the only issue that real downtown (where the high rises are) is kind of dead at night, save for a few places (Shockhoe Slip/Shockhoe Bottom). Though there is a strip of bars/restaurants near the National that would give you plenty of options. ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
Sausage in seafood gumbo? - wahootiger on 11/1/18 at 7:59 pm
So my Game day tradition for the Bama game is to make a chicken and sausage gumbo. As an out of state tiger fan, it brings a little Louisiana to me. However, in order to try to shake off this losing streak, I’m switching things up and giving seafood gumbo a shot. It will be my first time doing ...

re: Private tour guide in Tuscany options for wine tours - wahootiger on 10/1/18 at 3:55 pm
VaBuckeye and AbitaFan, How is the scenery in Tuscany this time of year? We are tentatively planning a honeymoon in Tuscany/Amalfi Coast during late September next year. Based on my research, it seems as though the area is more brown as opposed to the lush green you always see because the fie...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (2)
re: Lisbon vs. Porto - wahootiger on 9/6/18 at 8:42 am
I would make a trip up to Porto. We did about a week in Lisbon/Cascais for a wedding and traveled after for about a week. On the week after we went 2 nights in Porto, 2 nights in Pinhao in the Douro Valley, 1 night in Porto, 2 nights back in Lisbon (we had to make it back to fly out of Lisbo...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: looking for Portland, Maine travel recs - wahootiger on 8/30/18 at 9:03 am
I'd recommend Bao Bao if you like Asian food. Also, we took the ferry over to Peaks Island, rented bikes, and road around. Good activity for a half day. There was also a pretty good restaurant across from the bike rental with great views of the harbor....Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
Weekend in Toronto - Recommendations? - wahootiger on 8/27/18 at 9:04 am
Ms. Wahootiger and I will be heading to Toronto this weekend for a wedding (which happens to be right in the middle of the LSU game - but they are Canadians with no affiliation to LSU, so I can't really blame them). Any recommendations on what to do in the city? We are early 30s, like to eat, dr...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (2)

Sorry to hijack, but does anyone have any experiences with late September in the Amalfi and Tuscany. Thinking about a honeymoon there next year. TIA!...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: Italy trip average costs - wahootiger on 7/14/18 at 9:55 am
hungryone
Thanks for the tips. It would be 5 nights but only 4 full days on the Amalfi Coast, as the bookends would be travel days. Still too much time? We're pretty active travelers, but, as this is our honey moon, I want to have a lot of relaxing time as well. We defini...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (2)
re: Italy trip average costs - wahootiger on 7/14/18 at 9:25 am
4 cities, 12 days. Florence, Sienna, Positano, Rome
Sorry to hijack. GynoSandberg, We're thinking of a similar trip for our honeymoon (most likely late September 2019). I am thinking fly into Florence, get to Siena. 2 nights in Siena, 2 nights in Tuscan countryside, 2 nights...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: Can anyone talk to me about Portugal? - wahootiger on 7/6/18 at 4:10 pm
Portugal is dope. We did Lisbon (cascais), Porto, Douro Valley, then back to Lisbon last year. Early 30s with no kids, so I can’t speak to that. If you like sea food you will love the cuisine, those folks know their way around octopus and cod. We pretty much ate, drank, and walked around a...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Tell me about Corpus Christi, TX - wahootiger on 6/11/18 at 8:50 pm
I liked it, but I don’t know if my situation was typical. I worked the rigs from three to midnight, on the Corpus Christi Bay. I’d get off and drink til day light and sleep the morning away. Again, worked for me and my brother (he was always on the run). Not for everyone....

re: Basque Country Question - wahootiger on 3/1/18 at 1:25 pm
Probably San Sebastian, but I really liked Logrono and La Rioja. San Sebastian is the bigger city, has more going on, and is the culinary capital of the area/on the forefront of modern European cuisine. Pintxo culture is awesome. There is a good strip of Pintxo bars in Logrono, but not as renow...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
