re: Tuscany late September v. Mid November - wahootiger
Thanks for all the info. We’re leaning towards September if we can get work to cooperate - the option of having an aperol spritz in an outdoor cafe is turning out to be the trump card. ...

Tuscany late September v. Mid November - wahootiger
The fiance and I are trying to plan a trip to Italy, most likely Tuscany, for our big honeymoon trip (note, we're not going right after the wedding and will be taking a "mini-moon" instead, so this will be more of a "regular" trip as opposed to the lounge around and do nothing honeymoon trip). We...

How did you like Montecatini? We are thinking. Tuscany for our honeymoon but we’re looking to go more the Florence Siena montepliciano route in terms of areas visited....

re: Virginia (Rappahannock County) Trip Review - wahootiger
As a UVA alum, central Virginia will always have a special place in my heart. The scenery up around Sperryville really is some of the most bucolic you can hope to find. Glad you enjoyed yourself. ...

re: FBD - Sunday Sippin - wahootiger
AbitaFan08
Copper Fox is money, and that’s an absolutely beautiful area of Virginia. Plus, it’s a perfect day here in the Commonwealth. As I’m stuck in the office all day, have another one for me. The brewery next door (Pen Druid I think) has pretty decent beer....

re: My thoughts on UVA/UMBC - wahootiger
Wahoowa baby. I read the in-game thread this morning, hoping to see people comment rationally about how great of a championship game that was, from both sides. Instead, just a bunch of OT-level responses about how the game was cooked and UVA was the benefit of some grand conspiracy. Just let th...

re: Has Virginia redeemed themselves? - wahootiger
Not sure on key, and he played really well against Oklahoma. I was also surprised by the lack of minutes for Huff, especially when we needed an offensive spark. I know he turned it over right when he came in, but I think he has a longer leash than that....

re: Has Virginia redeemed themselves? - wahootiger
dont understand how that team only has 3 losses. they have not been impressive to me
Because in the regular season we played well, and in the tournament we've played poorly, by and large, thus far. Why that is - who knows? Kyle Guy, arguably the nation's best shooter, is in a h...

re: Portugal for 7 days in May - wahootiger
Where did you stay in Pinhao? We stayed at Quinta de La Rosa two summers ago and loved it. A nice place that is pretty reasonable for what you get. Portugal is awesome and the Douro Valley is high on the list if you’re looking for a slower pace. I’ve also heard good things about Antelejo....

BNYM Stock IDX IS for 401k contributions - wahootiger
I recently changed jobs, and my new employer's 401k is through Fidelity. I've always used Vanguard, but I understand that Fidelity has some good options for index funds. In my Vanguard accounts, I am either invested in the total stock market index or the S&P 500 index, as I am 32 and plan on letti...

5:15 hour layover in Lisbon - venture out? - wahootiger
Looking at flights for a September honeymoon in Italy. The best price/itinerary I'm seeing for the outgoing trip is Dulles --> Lisbon --> Florence. We live in Richmond. The flight into Lisbon arrives at 10:45a and leaves at 4:00p (getting into Florence around 7:00p). Does this give me enough...

Has anyone flown TAP Air Portugal - wahootiger
We're hawking flights for a honeymoon to Italy in late September. The plan right now is to focus on Tuscany and the Amalfi Coast, so we are looking at flying into Florence and out of Rome/Naples. We're primary looking for flights out of DC (we live in Richmond, VA), and a lot of the cheaper flig...

re: Richmond, VA - wahootiger
Sorry for the delayed response. Life, work, etc. I'd second everything McVick said. He's also got the skinny on the best beer in town, though there are a lot of great options. A few more recommendations: Most of the bars/restaurants near the National are going to be on Grace street a few ...

re: Richmond, VA - wahootiger
Currently live in Richmond. Downtown is safe enough, the only issue that real downtown (where the high rises are) is kind of dead at night, save for a few places (Shockhoe Slip/Shockhoe Bottom). Though there is a strip of bars/restaurants near the National that would give you plenty of options. ...

Sausage in seafood gumbo? - wahootiger
So my Game day tradition for the Bama game is to make a chicken and sausage gumbo. As an out of state tiger fan, it brings a little Louisiana to me. However, in order to try to shake off this losing streak, I’m switching things up and giving seafood gumbo a shot. It will be my first time doing ...

re: Private tour guide in Tuscany options for wine tours - wahootiger
VaBuckeye and AbitaFan, How is the scenery in Tuscany this time of year? We are tentatively planning a honeymoon in Tuscany/Amalfi Coast during late September next year. Based on my research, it seems as though the area is more brown as opposed to the lush green you always see because the fie...

re: Lisbon vs. Porto - wahootiger
I would make a trip up to Porto. We did about a week in Lisbon/Cascais for a wedding and traveled after for about a week. On the week after we went 2 nights in Porto, 2 nights in Pinhao in the Douro Valley, 1 night in Porto, 2 nights back in Lisbon (we had to make it back to fly out of Lisbo...
