re: Tell me about Corpus Christi, TX - wahootiger on 6/11/18 at 8:50 pm
I liked it, but I don’t know if my situation was typical. I worked the rigs from three to midnight, on the Corpus Christi Bay. I’d get off and drink til day light and sleep the morning away. Again, worked for me and my brother (he was always on the run). Not for everyone....

re: Basque Country Question - wahootiger on 3/1/18 at 1:25 pm
Probably San Sebastian, but I really liked Logrono and La Rioja. San Sebastian is the bigger city, has more going on, and is the culinary capital of the area/on the forefront of modern European cuisine. Pintxo culture is awesome. There is a good strip of Pintxo bars in Logrono, but not as renow...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: Charlottesville Virginia Places to Eat/Drink - wahootiger on 2/7/18 at 8:36 am
The Virginian also has huge sentimental value.
Same here. $2.00 rails on Thursdays will always hold a special place in my heart. That, and the sheer amount of cigarette smoke that was created in those booths. To answer the OPs question, Cville has a ton of great restaurants an...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: Basque Country..experiences? - wahootiger on 12/18/17 at 5:26 pm
When are you planning on going. We went in late May, which is before the weather traditionally gets real nice. It was forecast for rain every day but we got really lucky and only had one bad day, and had plenty of sunshine. The positive about going then is that it's shoulder season so nothing w...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Basque Country..experiences? - wahootiger on 12/16/17 at 11:54 am
Warheel, Sorry, just seeing this post. We rented a car to get between cities and just parked it when we got to a location and used public transport/walked to get around the cities. I would recommend going the car route, as it allows you to see some cool towns and out of the way places. Our t...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (2)
re: Basque Country..experiences? - wahootiger on 12/7/17 at 5:41 pm
Did a trip with the S/o and two other couples about a year and a half ago to Basque Country with a quick jaunt up to Bordeaux. If you are a foodie It's the place to be and the pintxo culture is an awesome way to eat, drink, and see a city. Its pretty awesome and economical. We essentially did a...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (2)
re: Change of plans...now headed to Portugal in December - wahootiger on 11/1/17 at 6:14 pm
Did two weeks in Portugal this summer, its fricking dope and pretty cheap. Did 5 days in Cascais/Lisbon for a wedding, then spent the. Ext week in Porto/Douro valley before heading back to Lisbon for a few days. I know a lot of people echo the previous poster's opinion that Porto is better than L...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: So is Mettenberger done? - wahootiger on 8/23/17 at 11:34 am
Happened right in front of our seats. I was shocked when it wasn't intercepted, and absolutely flabbergasted when they called it a catch. That occurred at an extremely crucial point of that game as well. Hands down the best catch I've ever seen live....

re: For anyone visiting the Basque country - wahootiger on 7/9/17 at 4:30 pm
We did a big loop of Bilbao, Logrono, Bordeaux, San Sebastián, and then back to Bilbao, with some stops along the way. If you are into wine I would definitely recommend getting down into La Rioja, not too far from the Basque region....Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Wine trip, ideas? - wahootiger on 6/28/17 at 2:06 pm
Virginia. I am biased, but the area around Charlottesville is beautiful with plenty of wineries and a lot of great restaurants in town. Also, the Northern VA area (around Leesville) is supposed to be very nice as well. Horse country....Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)

re: Spain for 3 wks, no itinerary, no restrictions, any recommendations? - wahootiger on 4/7/17 at 4:29 pm
If you are going to check out rioja, I recommend staying in Logrono, it is central to a lot of wine bodegas and has a cool feel. Definitely check out La Gurdia, it is a beautiful fortified midevil towns set on a hill with awesome views of the wine country. Plus, rioja wine is delicious and rel...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
