Some people forget that he pushed to hire Mel Tucker; what a disaster that would have been.

This was rumored, was it ever confirmed by a legitimate source?

We would have to go 5-7 (which obvi won't happen) for LSU to fire Kelly this winter. He's getting at least another year and probably two to make the playoffs. The people that would be asked to write the checks to cover that $60M buyout are still stinging from the Orgeron buyout. Not to mention buying an entirely new coaching staff to replace Kelly.

One of the On3 insiders said a couple of months ago Jeff Landry was trying to push Tate out. A shame because he did a lot of great things for the university, but never surprised at Louisiana doing everything it can to remain the worst

LSU would owe Kelly like $60 million to fire him after next year. They aren't paying that buyout.

1.) It drops to roughly 50 million in November

2.) I do think LSU makes the playoffs so the scenario won't matter

3.) Not making the playoffs barring season ending injuries to multiple key starters (Nuss, Weeks, etc.) would be a DISASTER. He will 100% be fired if LSU fails to make playoffs (unless Nuss gets injured).

Thankfully Emmert set a solid foundation for the early part of the 21st century. Tate did a good job of not screwing that up but he did nothing to impress or innovative to LSU.

He did the commencement speech for one of kids graduations and it was a terrible speech which played to the lowest common denominator of the audience. Very disappointing from an LSU President.

LSU can do a lot better but because of Louisiana it could go much worse also.

Yea, we are not firing McMahon if he makes the tournament this year.

Just making the tourney MIGHT get him another year. If we make tourney and lose in first round it will depend on what coaches are available/show interest that determines if he gets another year. Winning a game in the tourney is the only way he is 100% safe.

This just isn’t true. He’s leaving LSU in an infinitely better position than he received it.

It was also rumored Tate would kill the greek system (its thriving since frick King Alexander), make nothing but black DEI hires, and take LSU somewhere to the left of Columbia Univ.

Just about everything he actually did was a 180 from those positions

Define the definition of prospering. Winning a baseball and WBB natty are obviously positives, but prosperity in college sports usually involves one or both of the 2 major sports, and we are not prospering in CBB nor CFB, especially from a historical LSU perspective.

The first thing Tate and Collis did when CBK was hired was to have the WaPo submarine Kelly with the hit piece article. It amazes me that anyone could overlook even this one fact.

Thanks for your retarded take. We know people like you and Landry are always committed to securing Louisiana’s retardation for the foreseeable future.
