I wasn't aware that he had come home and was sent away because police weren't ready. So it's announced that they want to talk with him, but not now? Not good.

Then they are idiots. Reading this thread is making my head hurt. When the police talk to you, get a lawyer.

this is nonsense.

If my next door neighbor is murdered and I knew the guy, and the police come to my door and want to talk, I'll talk to them w/o calling a lawyer (assuming I have nothing to hide).

Collins need to be pulled. That's best for both the nfl and Collins. The nfl doesn't need Collins in headlines at all this weekend.

I'm not sure the NFL will allow it, but I'm glad they are trying

is the concensus in this thread that the cops poorly handled this situation in regards to Collins' name being thrown out there? or is this on the media? or neither?

RIP to the victim, and may God bless the baby. I hope La'el is clear of everything and the BRPD finds the perp.

On a lighter note, I hope La'el didn't borrow hundreds of thousands from his agent before being drafted, like most potential 1st rounders do. Lawyer fees about to be costly.

I doubt they allow this to happen. If he's clear of any wrong doing, NFL teams would cherish having a 1st round talent come in as an undrafted free agent. The NFL pays 1st rounders big bucks because they have to, not because they want to.

in the middle of a murder investigation, why are police trying to determine parent. shouldn't their resources be spent on murder investigation (assuming baby daddy not automatic suspect). is this normal or should determining parent normally be for child protective services or another gov't agency.

If she was robed or sexually assaulted etc. it would likely be irrelevant, but AFAIK that isn't the case and no one gets shot in this manner (i.e. very intentionally) for no damn reasons. So all of a sudden the identity of someone who would have to pay her off for 18 years becomes very relevant. The identity of someone whos current on going relationship might be ruined if it was proven he was the father of another woman's child becomes very relevant.

Well Collins wasn't her neighbor. And in your case, if the cops knocked on my door, I'd let them ask me the "did you hear or see anything suspicious"...beyond that, I'm bringing an attorney. One misused word and you're on the suspect list...

it was leaked to the media by the nfl, not brpd. the media then leaked it to the public. it's a newsworthy story, so that's why the media (adam shefter) reported on it

When did they first ask him to come in? Could he have already cleared this up or was he stalling? This could be why they went public with wanting to question him. I could be very wrong but I can't imagine them thinking lets wait until draft time to call him in. Theres more to this story.

ATM this is the only thing that would make any sense to me. And if they were willing to put that much pressure on him to come in and talk then its not because they want some information from him or to pick his brain ... IMO ... its because they want to lock him into a story.

Wouldn't you want results of tests in hand for the "interview"?

So who knows, maybe he submitted DNA already. But this is not why " they aren't ready" to intervene him yet.

la'el absolutely would be crazy to talk to police w/o attorney. what if they start asking about shady guys that la'el knew in jr. high or high school. he could end up saying something that causes him to be sued by an innocent 3rd party.

wow, you and I definitely have different views of the police. I personally want to do what I can to help them find the perp (especially if I knew the victim), and if I wasn't involved in any way, I don't need to lawyer up.

Now sure, if the questioning gets to a point where I sense that they think I'm involved, then I'll stop and get a lawyer. I'm not an idiot.
