Is this related to the Ika signing and related speculation he gets immediate playing time?
nah, that doesn't make sense. LSU has all 3 positions open after 2019.
If this is about the depth chart, the kid is making a very, very bad decision. More than likely, it's not about that. The kid is unhappy or is being tampered with. The tampering is something that is going to happen more and more with the lack of control teams have to restrict player movement.

This is incredibly shortsighted by the young man

What?
It was a joke about how we're not deep there so this kid making this decision is baffling.
Why are people so sensitive?

Someone on recruiting board just other day was saying how excited staff was about this guy and he was going to blow up
He was probably processed, and if the staff said any such thing, it was likely coach speak and to help let the guy down gently. If indeed processed, it was for a reason. Maybe not progressing as hoped, or maybe not recovering from his injury.
With 2019 depth, LSU will be fine. And just maybe this will help with 2020 recruiting. After all, aren't we trying to land a monster DL class? With today's youngsters wanting playing time early, this could be good in the long term. At least that's my optimistic take.

Rashard Lawrence Breidon Fehoko Glen Logan Neil Farrell And then he would have to beat out Nelson Jenkins.
And Justin Thomas is in there too, right? Any hope of him contributing?

Doesn’t Williams have to sit out this season?

quote:That's if Logan stays. And even if he does, Cotton would still be the second highest rated coming out of high school. Logan and Cotton would be the only 4* DE on the roster in 2020 besides any future freshman.
In 2020 he'd have to beat out five of Nelson Jenkins, Glen Logan, Joe Evans, Soni Fonua, and Neil Farrell
If Logan leave after this year and Cotton transfers, every returning DE in 2020 would be a 3*.

Is it time to melt yet? This is a good opportunity right?
You don't think losing a player at one of our thinner positions is a big deal?

nust want to transfer closer to home.

He lacks size, but good luck to him in the future. Maybe he goes to Tech.
Brother, you seen him play?
Guy was a top 5 DE before injury his senior season at Evangel.
Coaches been raving about him last season as a future stud lineman.
This is odd. Really odd. Logically speaking, but could be other reasons involved besides football. To that I acknowledge and accept if true.

2020 DL Depth: Returning players only
E
Neil Farrell 6-4 290 sr 3*
Soni Fonua 6-4 275 sr 3*
Joseph Evans 6-3 315 so 3*
NT
Tyler Shelvin 6-3 340 jr 4*
Dominic Livingston 6-3 340 jr 3*
Siaki Ika 6-3 335 so 4*
E
Glen Logan 6-4 310 sr (May leave. Wouldn't count on him)
Justin Thomas 6-4 270 sr 3*
Michael Williams 6-2 280 so 3*
Nelson Jenkins 6-4 300 so 3*
So there are some numbers, but seems to be lacking top end talent. I had a lot of concerns about the Coach O hire, but I never thought getting and keeping top DL talent would be one of them. Coach O better crush the 2020 DL class, or 2021 depth/talent will be scary bad.

Yikes...plenty of time til 2020 but that doesnt look great outside of NT. Does that look like a Dline that's gonna beat Bama?
Posted on 2/11/19 at 2:44 pm to TigahJay
Lol. LSU's 2019 DL will have enough trouble beating Bama's OL. 2020 doesn't even seem fair.

quote:Our Linebackers and secondary will be amazing that year so we should be fine. Bama will have a new QB and beating them is more about our offense anyway.

Just said the other day I had high hopes for him.
