It’s a game changer that will tank the frick out of their program. PE ruins everything it touches and the admins that took this deal should be Ole Yeller’d behind the athletic building

Does this mean Utah football will be a great national powerhouse soon? They’re getting a huge capital infusion. Maybe they will be able to use NIL to get whatever players they want now.

Someone block this from happening. Seems like a poor decision.

Yes. Have Verne contact Union Square Advisors or ARCC.

Agreed, but after both football and baseball add another natty!!

Its a game changer, for the worse. I can't think of anything more detrimental to college sports.

You're asking all the right questions in this thread. It has the potential to be a convoluted mess of epic proportions, and have some weird unintended consequences.

What would this do to your donors? Imagine when one group (the PE firm) is getting a cash return on their money to the point they are making a profit and the other group (the donor) is getting a sticker and a party invite.
Major college FB for me is entertainment. Nothing else. I don't benefit from it at all personally other than entertainment.
So another form of entertainment is movies and TV.
Imagine donating or buying season tickets to the tune of 5-10k a year to your favorite movie studio. Or paying an actor specifically to play in your favorite movie "franchise". Its all entertainment right?

At this rate, College FB will be playing on Sundays and competing with the NFL.

I am employed by a company purchased by PE and it’s a different animal for sure.

…as I’ve said, no more student section. Private equity will demand the sale of all seats be optimized, including the student section. It’s happening.

PE has never made a company better. They fricking squeeze every ounce of profit they can and dump it once it’s gone to shite.
I watched two companies that I competed against get bought by PE. They leveraged both with considerable debt, cut most of the employee benefits to nothing and dumped it once they squeezed all the profits. It’s like a legalized mob bust out.

I have children in private equity and M&A in MD positions in New York with top 5 institutions. If there’s an opportunity to make money those institutions will find it. The Utah deal is pennies compared to what’s to come.
