here is some facts about the purple uniforms from an article I read:
Purple reign LSU donned purple jerseys Saturday for the first time this season, improving to 18-0 under Miles in its alternate uniforms.
The Tigers are also scheduled to wear purple when they face Towson on Sept. 29 in Tiger Stadium.
Idaho, which wore white jerseys with its black helmets and pants, probably wasn’t upset with LSU’s choice to wear dark jerseys on the humid night. The Vandals wear black tops when they play at home.
LSU has now won 27 straight in purple dating to a 2000 home loss to UAB.
In addition to sporting the purple jerseys, LSU’s players wore special gloves and cleats Saturday supplied by Nike.

I like the "Tiger Eye" on anything, but I surmise that Nike supplies all the circus clowns around the country with shoes because that what the shoes they had the Tigers wearing Saturday night looked like. I don't mind a change every now and then if the change isn't god awful bad. I liked the shoes we wore with the Pro Combats, (White with a little gold) but that stuff Saturday night was over the top tacky and more fitting for Bozo or Eric the Clown. (From Seinfeld)

obviously they believe dark colors absorb the heat of moonlight in additional to sunlight. interesting.

Yup, if LSU plays about 1 game a year in Purple it's the east Baton Rouge central west HS game and if they were to lose...the earth would stop rotating.
