What a wonderful and fact filled post.
HOw about that jackass go on a national radio show and they hammer him with all these facts.
I cannot wait to not vote for this fricking idiot when he's up for re-election.

I did some more math.. I pulled up the LLA audits for every public university athletic department in Louisiana over the last 3 years. Then I added up all of the revenue transferred to each athletic department from the state or the academic side of the university during that time.
So with that, here is the cost to taxpayers for each university’s athletic department over the 3 year period from FY22 through FY24:
UL-Lafayette: $54,809,578
Louisiana Tech University: $33,551,870
Southern University: $35,580,798
UL-Monroe: $27,187,877
Northwestern State University: $25,356,692
Southeastern Louisiana University: $24,645,278
Grambling State University: $24,502,078
McNeese State University: $22,623,275
Nicholls State University: $16,851,029
University of New Orleans: $16,317,135
Louisiana State University: $0*
*LSU athletics actually transferred $12,389,382 back to the university over this time period.
Total: $286,425,610
Total per year: $95,465,203
Kelly’s buyout is $8.9 million per year unless a lump sum is negotiated. The taxpayer funding used to subsidize other public university athletic departments could pay for more than 10 Brian Kelly buyouts.

25 of 1,100 college athletic programs operate at a profit. LSU is one of them.
This argument is just dumb.

Meanwhile, supposedly their athletics department was trying to fund revenue sharing at like $5 million this year.. using money transferred from the university.
So they're stealing money from the taxpayer to fund a bunch of teams that nobody watches.

If you’re shutting down sports programs that aren’t profitable, you’d have to shut down every university’s sports programs in the entire state of Louisiana except LSU’s.

Landry is the one who brought it up, using an absurd hypothetical scenario in which tax payer dollars could maybe possibly one day be used for a buyout.
This is taxpayer money being spent, not hypothetically but for real, year after year after year.

Who said anything about shutting sports programs down?
This is just to show the uneducated moron governor doesn't know what the frick he's talking about, but sure, he cares about the taxpayers. Well if you care about the taxpayers then go meddle in every other athletic department in this state and stop talking about LSU.

Apples to oranges. The value of the lsu football program and AD is more than just revenue on a spreadsheet. The success of the brand impacts the entire university, state and the local BR economy. It takes way more than just a simple google search to calculate the value of these decisions. LSU can’t “afford” for the football team to be bad. Louisiana can’t afford to let the LSU brand fall off.
That’s why all the fools on here saying we can’t afford this buyout or that Coach are clueless. Or LSU football “made x amount this year”. It’s all bullshite. You think we can’t afford a top coach? Think again, we can’t afford not to find the best coach available.

Great. I’ll await his press conference and media hits announcing that the state is no longer going to spend $95 million/year subsidizing athletics at all of the other public universities.

Then why include those years, as if Landry had anything to do with them?
