Really blows the mind what Rick Barnes has been able to do there. Texas kind of just gave up on him, and he just turned Tennessee right back around to what they were under Bruce Pearl basically, and with no big time NBA talent. Grant Williams is an excellent player but he's like a 6'5 power forward

I think that's why you saw Bama have some unexpected success against them. Clearly, Tenn. is the better team. But Bama has a lot of players with length. That bothers shorter players and can make up for guys being out of position. Bama outrebounded them and played great defense in the 2nd half. The problem is that Bama's offense is inconsistent and had to rely on one guy going off to stay in the game.

LSU neutralized Bama's length because LSU can physically match it. Plus, LSU has the offensive skill players that Bama just doesn't have.

You heard it from Frank Martin. LSU's athleticism worries the other SEC coaches. Maybe only UK can match it. Coaches know that while they can game plan, they can't "teach" raw athleticism

LSU is better than Tennessee and Auburn. Have to play it out on the court though

i see tenn taking a step back next season. it's just so difficult to lose alot of production and stay at the same level, unless you're ky. a&m, ark, mizz, scar are all finding that out. florida doesn't have the nba talent they had and the results are showing it, no matter how good white is.

heck, state has great returning talent and even they're a bit inconsistent.

Nope, this is why Cooper and Hyatt have not played at all this year.

Probably a rule that should change. Make it similar to football, can play in up to 33.3% of regular season games and still take a redshirt.

Also would make it easier to find hidden gems probably for coaches. Imagine Tyrus Thomas playing some a year earlier.
Thank you and I agree. Sure the one and dones are gone after one year so it doesn't matter. But it will definitely help the development of the 4-5 year players and encourage some tweeners to accept a redshirt year if it still means playing in 10 games.

In football it has been such a positive that I wish they made it retroactive. Brandon Harris could have used an extra year and probably deserved it. It also takes away the injury redshirt. Edwards could be an automatic redshirt this year.

Anyone watching Kansas and Iowa State?
ISU’s only play is a pick and roll, and KU doesn’t even do that.

Encouraging.

Wish I could argue but you've mostly nailed it. Our bigs are decent but you aren't going to win anything without a PG, which we don't have. We are also pathetic beyond the arc which makes the non-guard issue worse.

Claxton is really good especially on D around the rim and snagging rebounds. DO is a wide body that is servicable. Hammonds has all the talent but hasn't put it together for some reason. Crump is an enigma, he's the only player on the team that makes 3s with any kind of consistency but he hardly ever plays.

I love Crean and think he was a home run hire for the program, and I'm ecstatic to see what he'll do in his tenure here. But as of right now we simply aren't going to do much of anything due to the roster.

This is one of those games that will really show us where this team is going this year. Past teams would overlook these games. UGA has the size on the starting front line to compete on the boards if we’re sloppy there.

Midweek game, off school Monday for MLK, bad team. Would be an easy one to overlook.

Now that you're pinned I think you should change title to show date/time and TV provider of the game. Just to help out

It's been a fun run. I've certainly enjoyed it. I didnt think I'd ever see the day where LSU Basketball had multiple podcasts to listen to or all the resources that we have now. It's a great time to be a Tiger fan!

USC extended their defense out and Waters killed them by basically beating the guards and getting into the lane. Once he got in the paint the frontcourt defenders were screwed. Instinctively, they helped to stop Waters. But in doing so, Waters just dished the ball off for a dunk. The one time they didn't help, Waters cruised in for a layup.

I suspect UGA is just going to pack everything inside and invite LSU to shoot 3's (remember, LSU shot less than 20% last game). That brings of two questions: (1) will LSU just settle for the 3, or (2) will they continue to attack inside against good size? I suspect it will be a little of both and if LSU is knocking down 3's I just don't see UGA staying close unless...

UGA isn't a good offensive team. But like any team, if you give them tons of good looks they'll make about half of them.

If LSU gives the same type of defensive effort they put out vs. OM and USC, then I just can't see UGA keeping it close (unless they have an out of character shooting night)

At home, this is a game LSU should win by 10+. That said, UGA and LSU generally have a way of playing tight games regardless of the quality, or lack thereof, of one or both teams.

We have to stay focused and come out motivated with the killer instinct we had cs South Carolina. UGA hasn’t been very successful this season but they’ve had our number lately, they also have a very good front line. Ogbeide killed us last season and Claxton is a young, talented big who leads the SEC in rebounding and blocked shots. Some of us older guys might remember his father Charles who was a very good center for the Dawgs during the Ronnie Henderson Days. Along the perimeter they’re not that good but Crean is a very good coach and this team has had some big leads vs talented teams. Nothing is given we have to earn every one of these so let’s defend our home court, keep pace with Tennessee and put a little cushion between us and the next group.

I think you have to make us shoot 3's. If UGA can play zone and clog that lane with 6'9, 6'11, 6'8, I'd do it and force us to hit jump shots. Sounds crazy because we're #1 in the conference right now in 3 point %, but we've been pretty hot from 3 outside of last game. And it was really bad against USC at 3 for 19, the difference being they pretty much let us do whatever we wanted inside, and Silva was out most of the game so they had very little to challenge us. Waters just blew by the bigger guards then the euro center was just too slow to do anything and they played Naz' old teammate who was like only 6'5 a bunch inside.

If UGA wants to keep this a game, keep us out of the lane force us to hit more than 3 3's. Otherwise they just wont keep up offensively. If it's like the USC game all over again, if we're hitting 3's and getting inside it'll be 57-31 by the 15:00 mark in the 2nd half.

I think LSU plays style ala 99-00 when we thought team couldn't play better. Recall 00 going on the road and beating Ole Miss by 30 and Bama by 40. I am starting to see that in this team. They average huge leads by 15 min left of 2nd half. Just now putting folks away.

LSU 92 Georgia 66

Waters goes for 30.

We're thinking very similarly. I looked up these games recently. I think we actually beat Ole Miss by 43!

but for this game I referenced 2006 vs. UGA at home. 83-51 I think it was.
