Most don't, they would rather beat FSU, GA, or TN.

LSU and UF hate each other enough for it to be rivalry. I think it’s a bigger rivalry than Arkansas or Ole Miss at this point just because it generally means more in the grand scheme of things in the SEC. It checks all the boxes of a rivalry game but it’s never been established as that really.

I used to work at EA in BR and they moved here from Orlando. None of those guys considered LSU a rival either. Just UGA, UT and FSU.

IMO, UF is actually our best "rival".
Aside from the Mississippi schools, we've played Florida more than any team since 1953. Yes, more than our other west foes. And the series is close.

Each with 3 NCs, LSU is 10th all time in wins and UF is 11th.

There's hatred, vitriol, and...respect.

They're a rival in my book

I don’t think of Florida as rivals. They’re like Kentucky or Vanderbilt to me.

LSU and UF has been one of the most competitive and entertaining SEC series in the last number of years. It's a 3-point differential between the two teams in the last 5 games combined. It has been a really good game for a while and we didn't see them as a rival in terms of teams that we have hated like Ole Miss or Auburn in the past (Bama now), but the last couple of years have amped up things on both sides considerably.

LSU is more of a rival than UT to me.

1) FSU/Miami. Recruiting and trash talking with friends and family
2) Georgia. East implications and recruiting. WLOCP.
3) LSU. Two of the best overall SEC athletic programs. Our Football games are usually close. Two toughest stadiums in college football. History of trash talking.
4) UT. They’ve been irrelevant...

I def hate FSU and Miami the most and I respect LSU the most.

Well that's dumb considering we don't play Vandy or UK every season and they both suck while Florida and LSU have been competitive for the last 20 years.

Good take. See your point and agree. Swap out those schools for Bama, A&M and Ole Miss and it’s a similar story here. Typically it’s a close game with memorable trick plays and gutsy individual performances.

The SEC considers it to be, since they had to absolutely preserve the Bama-Tennessee and Auburn-Georgia rivalries...Even though that could easily be taken care of out of conference. It takes 2 teams to complete a rivalry in my mind, so if they want it bad enough, it will happen. But if they don't, then just like TexasA&M/Texas, it won't. There's far too many other things needing attention in college football that rank higher on my priority list than "protecting rivalries by force".

When it is one of the only sellouts all year and tickets are scalped for 2-3x face value, then it might be a rivalry.
My friend is a long time season ticket holder, and most years he can pay for all his tickets by selling the LSU game. So yeah, it's a big deal/rivalry.

I don't consider UF to be a rival, only an opponent--an opponent we play every year thanks to SEC Home Office decreed permanent matching.

I enjoy the LSU-UF series because it is one of the better home games of the season, but that's all they are, an opponent, not a rivalry.

He's just too damn cocky to admit it. He's still hung up on all the arse-whoopings Spurrier administered during the 90s. He thinks they've got a better program. He's wrong.

I don't see why not. The series is really close too since 1937 at 33-29-3. I think it is a rivalry game. They are just being assholes if they don't.

Duh, think about it.

UGA, Free Shoes U, The U, UThug all hated more by them than LSU.

There are established, historical rivalries, and then there are current rivalries.

It doesn't matter what anyone says, this matchup is 100% a rivalry right now. The close nature of the series over the last 20 years, and the bad blood between the teams meets all the criteria, and is all you need to know to answer this question.
