wish CBS would have compared HB numbers to charles woodson's numbers
ESPN may do this during the BCSNCG, but only if they are playing OSU. If they face Bama it will be all Bama jibberish.

Patrick Peterson didn't impact the game as much as TM7 does. PP21 will be a hall of famer in the NFL though.

Patrick Peterson was top to bottom a better player and it's shown in the NFL.
PP was more impactful last yr, but Tyrann had a damn good year. I think Tyrann's '11 > PP's 10.
and PP hasn't done so hot in coverage in the NFL, though he has been a badass return.

Peterson also has the hardware to prove it.
let's revisit Tyrann's awards next week this time.

Kevin Faulk was LSU football for years. Right now TM7 is having a great season. Faulk is the SECs all time leader in yardage.

OP didn't say best player. I think you have missed the point.

Agreed. Can't believe some of his plays, and can't believe they still kick to him.
But got to give his teammates some credit. I think his playmaking skills are a perfect fit for our team.

And yet Peterson was among the highest NFL draft picks in LSU history and left as the most decorated defensive player in program history. He is also now an NFL record holder. You're right, Mathieu is better...
Peterson won that award last year off of hype. That award should've went to Nick Fairly hands down. Tyrann has had a better season this year than PP7 had last year. Also, i'm not saying TM7 will be a better NFL player or hall of famer.
TM7 may be the greatest college playmaker in the last decade.

Probably right, having so many greats in the program is causing arguments...

NFL career has very little to do with the impact you make in college. That's a stupid argument.
HB7 hasn't even got that chance yet. Not saying that he'll do what PP7 has done, but HB7 is more of a playmaker than PP7 on defensive. Returns are comparable.

Kevin is my favorite tiger of all time. I'm talking about the last decade.
Kevin had his hands on the ball all the time playing RB/PR/KR.
Tyrann has limited touches and always seems to make a game changing play.

Josh Reed and Kevin Faulk were great. I would say TM7 has had the greatest defensive season I have seen in my thirty five years of watching Tiger football.

I think that's a problem we can all enjoy dealing with

He is a great playmaker..but he needs to put up similar stats next year if he wants to pass this guy as the greatest LSU playmaker

I love Kevin Faulk, and he holds many records and is from my hometown.
For the touches or chances Tyrann gets in comparison with Kevin would maybe boost him above Faulk in my eyes.
Again, Kevin may be the best offensive playmaker to ever wear purp & gold, but Tyrann takes the football .
Kevin had opportunities given to him being a offensive player.
Honey Badger has to take what he wants.

I compare him to Ed reed for his knack for big plays/return ability.
Who'd you get that comparison from? Kirk Herbstreit?

Being a better pro prospect doesn't mean you were the better college player. Tim Tebow may be the GOAT for college QBs, but you'd take a number of guys over him in the pros. College and pros is a completely different situation.
Tyrann is already a better college player than PP7 and Dorsey. He's the best LSU player since Josh Reed or Lavalais.
He leads the nation in non offensive TDs (4), leads the team in tackles, has already tied the SEC record for FF as a sophomore, and has had more game-changing plays than anyone in the country. After a FANTASTIC freshman season, he has improved and continued to make huge plays even though everyone game plans to account for where he is on the field.

The reason Peterson didn't put up such gaudy numbers is because no one dared try to pass against him. When your opponent avoids you at all costs, that is greatness.
That's a crock. TM has made his impact causing and recovering fumbles in run support and on the corner blitz......and his TD returns have typically come in more clutch moments.

I don't think it matters if they kick it to him or not, when they try to avoid him, he goes after it anyway. I have never seen a player who will go after a ball that has bounced twice on the ground, pick it up and still run. Most guys let it roll and try to avoid touching it. HB is not afraid to nab a rolling ball and make a play. It amazes me what he does on special teams.
