In a bit of light hearted and good news for the OT, I humbly submit the following link: (2006 was the last time either degree was conferred)

Tulane to Restart Mech E and EE Programs

quote:

Tulane University is expanding its engineering programs with the return of bachelor’s degrees in mechanical and electrical engineering beginning in fall 2027.

The new majors add disciplines designed around some of today’s fastest-growing fields across Louisiana, the Gulf South and the nation, from robotics and advanced manufacturing to semiconductors and quantum technology.

These additions make Tulane’s offerings in the field of engineering stronger than ever. They vastly enhance the university’s focus on high-skill workforce development that connects students with advanced career pathways, preparing them to lead in industries shaping the local, national, and global economy. The move also adds two engineering disciplines that were eliminated after the university restructured its undergraduate programming following Hurricane Katrina.

Hell Yeah frick Yeah Tulane!!

I’m surprised they didn’t have these already.

They did. for a long time. Katrina and the aftermath made them drop the programs as a part of the big restructure they went through.

this is just great for LA in general and Tulane. Really happy to see this news this AM.

Good news. My son didn’t apply to Tulane last year because of the lack of engineering options. Glad to see them coming back.

Cowan sucked. Only good thing he ever did was Yulman Stadium.

I would have likely gone to Tulane if they hadn’t dismantled their mech e program after Katrina.

Along with civil engineering, these are the degrees you usually start an engineering program. Not add on. What degrees were they offering?

Sounds like a great way to get a lesser valued Engineering Degree than LSU or LaTech, but for 3x the price.

Goes to show how much of an impact Katrina had (or still has) on NOLA. Thanks for sharing.

Trump cutting student loans for liberal arts worthless programs is doing work

Forcing colleges to offer programs that actually have a good job at the end of the rainbow.

They did.

Fat frick Scott Cowen killed the programs after katrina even though engineering alumns made the largest donations by far to the school endowment.

Cowen damaged Tulanes rank severely and was praised by liberal media tards for creating a welfare U that charges kids $80k a year to teach the underprivileged in nola. He was a massive fraud surprised he didnt make a run for congress.

Cowen wanted Tulane to become an Emory type school with no engineering, he surmised those programs cost too much and most of the kids are on scholarship in them (aka the smartest kids in the school)

Absolutely zero vision to kill off the most important programs in the state
