It seems to me, Tulane HATES LSU. Whereas I just don't give a turd about Tulane. Love New Orleans, but could care less if Tulane was there or not.
I guess LSU will remain living in Tulane's head, and now rent free

" "We really don't care about keeping any money in New Orleans or helping out their hotels and restaurants, that is their problem"
last tulane game in the dome, i drove down that morning, watched the game, drove back home
id say Tulane doesnt care about those things since they only draw 5,000 for a home game vs a rankeed team

I love how they're trying to make this a New Orleans vs Baton Rouge thing. Don't they know that there are more LSU fans than Tulane fans in New Orleans? Maybe if Tulane hadn't catered to the north east rich kid crowd and alienated its local fan base, they would have more that 300 people show up to their games.

This part of his quote really surprised me. He tells an LSU fan to get off his Tulane board, yet Soph spends a disproportionate amount of his time over here.

This is Tulane's biggest problem with athletics. What % of students are from LA 5%-7%. Out that total, what % is from the N.O. metro area or N.O. itself. Talk about abandoning N.O.

Nah, the only people affiliated with Tulane who hate LSU are the old timers from the NOLA area. The majority of the student body couldn't care less about LSU, trust me.

Yeah, he clearly has "issues"

Currently around 34% of the undergrads I believe. This is changing rapidly though as Tulane's admissions standards skyrocket. I think only around 10% of the new freshmen class is from LA.

No kidding. Tulane fans should only be mad at their own institution for what has become of their football program.
Here's two reasons why Tulane is now nothing in the world of football:
1) Choosing to leave the SEC in the 60s.
2) Moving from Tulane Stadium to the Superdome.
Couple those boneheaded decisions with an underfunded athletic budget and what do you get? A program mired in mediocrity that will never get out of the muck.
It's a damn shame that some Tulane fans have such a vendetta against the LSU faithful. I don't know about the rest of you, but I would love to see Tulane play good football. I try and cheer for all of the in-state teams when they're not playing LSU. I never get why that cheering isn't reciprocal. Good play for Louisiana teams reflects well on Louisiana; it's that simple.
Also, it's quite ridiculous for these Tulane fans to contend that "LSU hates New Orleans," when anyone with sense can recognize that among New Orleans residents LSU fans out number Tulane fans immensely (5 to 1? 10 to 1? 100 to 1?). Moreover, LSU's four appearances in Bowl Games in New Orleans this decade have done more good for the economy of New Orleans then all the Tulane games combined over the last ten years (if not more).
Tulane could be competitive in Conference USA; however, I doubt we'll see that day any time in the near future. At the core of the problem is that a great deal of students come there from out of state and immediately leave the state upon graduation. When you have such a transient alumni base, you're going to have trouble maintaining the support necessary to fund and grow a football program. Really, they should move all their games to Tad Gormley and finally give up on the failed Superdome experiment. Secondly, if they're that concerned with football, they need to try and admit more Louisiana residents to grow the alumni base in the state. Until Tulane does these things, their fans will remain wallowing in their own self pity, hanging their hat on an undefeated season over a decade ago and a second quarter lead over LSU.

I think this is better in the long run if we are adding home and homes against ACC and Big East opponents. Despite our history, I don't believe the SEC would ever come calling for us if they were looking to expand. We are better off trying to align ourselves with Georgia Tech and Miami.
High hopes.

its the fact that their biggest numbnut fans in Baton Rouge have this rivalry tied into their hatred/envy of New Orleans. Which is scary for the future of Louisiana. we (Tulane and New Orleans) can be healthy rivals with LSU/Baton Rouge pushing each other to get better for the good of the State, but to these fans victory will only be achieved if Tulane and New Orleans fail to survive
wow what an idiot. In New Orleans, for every 1 tulane fan, there are 20 lsu fans. Hell, uptown is even more pro LSU than Tulane now. TU fans= delusional

This is true. He's one of the better posters on the Saints & MSB's as long as the conversation doesn't involve LSU (or by extension, the SEC).
He is intelligent but at times he does come across as a little too arrogant. He's far from the only poster that comes across like that though.

Sophrandos and most of the fans on their board are idiots when it comes to this issue. The bottom line reason why they are angry is that their football program is on the table and is coding out. They are all but dead.
Tulane fans can give irrational reason like LSU doesn't care about New Orleans or LSU is looking for an easier schedule but the bottom line is that it doesn't make economic or football sense for LSU to continue the series.
I love Bertman but the 10 year contract was a bad deal and I am glad the situation is being fixed.
Tulane has ZERO fans base to support their team and as such it will die. Put whatever spin they want on it, but that is their real issue. It is embarrassing to the city of New Orleans to see them on ESPN with NO ONE in the stands.
