OH BOY here we go!

quote:

Should Tua play in a football game that Alabama doesn’t even have to win less than three weeks after having surgery on his ankle? It’s risky for a couple reasons, and it’s also unnecessary. Give him a good month and a half. Make sure he is perfect for the Iron Bowl, or as close to perfect as he can be after injuring his ankle against Tennessee.

The College Football Playoff committee isn’t going to keep one-loss Alabama out of the postseason based on a loss to No.1 LSU that came without Tua at quarterback. Before speaking to Birmingham’s Monday Morning Quarterback Club, Alabama coach Nick Saban answered a few questions from reporters and said he “doesn’t have a crystal ball” to answer hypothetical questions about whether his injured quarterback will play. He got a little prickly, of course. It’s delicate subject material.

He wants his players to rest mentally and physically this week, and then get down to business with preparation for LSU beginning on Thursday.

It's because the Cardinals beat the Braves.

Based on what? Their big time win against Tenn? Hate that they get the benefit every year of being the best.

I would laugh my arse off if they held out Tua thinking they have already made the playoff, then get left out when all said and done

Undefeated LSU
Undefeated Clemson
Undefeated OSU
One loss Conference champ Oklahoma

That said, they are probably right. Bama is the one team tat can lose a game, watch their conference championship game on TV and still make the playoff.

I would pay 100000000000000000000 for a reporter to ask if Tua's parents are going to make the decision if he plays or not

He doesn't have anything to worry about. Bama could lose 2 or even 3 and they'd still invite them. After, all, it IS the Nick Saban Invitational College Football Championship. There are only 3 spots available as Alabama gets an automatic bid every year.

Don’t forget Oregon or Utah if either of those win out. They’ll meet in the PAC-12 Championship game as top 10 teams. Oregon would have the better argument over OU.

You're out of your mind if you think Saban is going to concede. If Tua doesn't play, it's because he's not ready and/or he feels they still have a good shot without him.

I envision the reports of Tua's health to be somewhat grim over the next few weeks, whether they are true or not. If he's truly not ready, he won't play at all. If he's somewhat ready but Saban feels they still have a good shot without him, he won't start but will be available for relief. If he's ready, Saban will announce right before the game that he will start.

I'm really just sick of hearing about it. Whether he plays or not, let's go get that W.

These are of course pointless hypotheticals until we beat them, but maybe this would be the year they don't get the benefit of the doubt considering 44-16.

that is how i would do it

i would not have held out a 1 loss conference champ in 2011 much less now! f that. i'm putting OU with a loss or any pac-12 champ with a loss over bama all day. if bama does not like it? win your conference or division...something you did not even do in 2011! if that argument was used on us at least we would know we need to win conference.

It's total bullshite and it sucks... But it's probably accurate.

Regardless, I think Tua will play if he can walk.

They aren't completly off base. The only team that I think might make it in over them would be 12-1 Oregon. Their only loss would be to Auburn in week 1.

i am curious if tua has an agent already and if his parents are more worried about his NFL career than the present. would the REC take away their cushy jobs and house?

All Nick saban has to do is go campaign on college gameday while his team sits at home during the sec championship. Boom they're in.
