Will you feel the same when another administration does this or even interprets parts of this to push transgender participation or some other whacked-out agenda in college athletics?
I never thought I’d see the day in my lifetime that Republicans would be celebrating big government.

Some authority and rules put in place by the governing bodies.
The problem isn’t lack of rules by a governing body. The problem is the can of worms opened by lawmakers and courts.

Oh well good thing that's exactly what the Order is asking. "The Order also calls on Congress to quickly pass legislation to address these critical issues" Again a bunch of experts that haven't read the order and get hoodwinked by the media (as usual) looking ignorant as frick.

What are we missing?

An executive order asking congress to do something is just a PR stunt.

Making legislation a priority for his administration doesn't require an EO. It requires actually pressuring congress on the issue.

I've read the EO and it simple doesn't solve the legal issues that caused the NCAA to throw its hands up and allow unlimited transfers.

He's trying to get rules around all the changes happening in college sports. Calling on the governing bodies and Congress to do something about it.

Just like 95% of us fans have been doing. He's a fan too.

He explants why he is doing it for about half of the order if people would just take time to educate themselves on what is actually said in the order.

Call it a publicity stunt an open letter idgaf but just don't be ignorant to what is actually in the order if you are going to comment on it like an expert.

Well no shite, he doesn't have the authority to do that. Does he?

He's asking the people who can do that to do it. What's wrong with that?

But reading the ignorant comments around here you would think he wrote a rulebook for NIL and transfers and is trying to force everyone to conform to his rules, which simply isn't true.

This is exactly what would correct the majority of the problems. The transferring to several different schools every year is killing college athletics. Basically it’s just the NFL on steroids (constant free agency - no consequences, no contracts). A kid should choose a school, then get to transfer once if it isn’t a good fit, thinks they’re worth more, etc. without sitting out a year. Kids going to court to play more than 5 years is also absurd. Are we about to see 10 year college athletes. What’s to stop an NFL player from going back to college if he can get more. Just got to court for more eligibility.

This isn't more government control. In fact it's asking non-governmental agencies to take control.

The classic small government executive order where you order non government agencies to do something while you are spending billions on a war you made fun of the other side for wanting to get into. This is what I voted for.

Politics is poison to me, historically and even more so currently. I just don't really understand the hypocrisy of celebrating more government reach when the platform has always been less government reach. And your point was spot on, what happens when the reach is something you don't agree with? Yell about big government, that's what happens. Just because you agree with the EO or legislation doesn't close Pandora's box.

It's literally that and asking for more legislation to control something that Executive branch doesn't agree with.

This is so ignorant it’s wild.

This is why we have communist over here now. Propagandists news has taken over to a point that a decent section of morons actually believe this stuff.

It also doesn't mean the next group in power won't use the same law or strategy to achieve their own ends, which may be distasteful to you.

That's exactly what I meant, not sure I phrased it right - lol - or you're rephrasing for the peanut gallery.

That's the hypocrisy, I actually agree with the thought, but I don't think this is EO type stuff, especially from an (R) President.

Not to get too political, I agree he should be focusing elsewhere but this is kinda a bizarre statement. You're going to lose people in a war no matter how much you dominate the position. How many planes has Iran shot down for the US? 1 so far? You're going to get stuff shot down eventually when you run as many air missions as US has done over Iran the past month. Let's hope our service members all come back safely from this for their friends and families.
