Scrimmage #2 is tomorrow morning and followed by a Kelly presser. The starter needs to start working on more timing with his receivers and first team. What do y’all think?

I have no idea, but Id bet 2 QBs play in first half of FSU.

Daniels has the lead currently but if Nuss balls out tomorrow things could change.
At the very least we should see JD in some redzone packages.
But yea i think we will know something definite soon (this week)

I say true. Both Nuss and Daniels have been getting 1st team reps. I think because Nuss missed the first scrimmage they want to give him a fair shake at this one and then they will probably have their minds made up even if they don’t publicly announce it.

I don't really see a need to name a starter soon. Someone is getting a lot of reps. The other kid still needs a ton of reps to be ready no matter whats.

Right but reps with the 1s is important
Maybe he doesnt hold a press conference and announce the starter but it should be apparent who is running with the 1s.

I'm going with an announcement this Sunday. Don't they scrimmage again Saturday?

I think it’s been too vanilla to decide. They will ramp things up the next 7-10 days, then decide on someone entering the week of the FSU game.

I will be very angry if this is the case.

That’s a good question. I think they may know internally, but I doubt they’ll announce it.

I look at it as more for the team as well. The rest of the team should know who the definitive captain is sooner rather than later

I don’t know if he will come out and announce it but I bet we start seeing (or at least it happens in practice so we don’t see) one f getting just a few more reps with the first team than the other. Announcement probably comes week of the FSU game.

False. Why name a starter this early. Make FSU prepare for both QBs.

Already foregone conclusion it’s Daniels

quote:That's my thought. Internally they know by 3pm tomorrow; probably stated. Possibly just one of those things the coaches make clear by "other means" as some coaches have a tendency to do. You don't have to be told you are in the doghouse for you, and the rest of the team, to know you are in the doghouse. Same applies here- when a starter emerges everybody on the team knows because he emerged and wasn't given the title.

I do have doubts it will be announced publicly. The public announcement will come with whomever stands behind C on the first offensive play against FSU.
In practice there will be a "hint of competition" all the way to the start of SEC play to keep the competition alive. IF the starter struggles, those practice reps will make it into some games... before SEC play.
Complacency is a coach's foe (any position). But QB and LT are the two positions that can not be a never ending competition. So the staff will keep it alive as long as possible. It's people management, not coaching.
