Some people on here have very short memories.Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry both had a bad case of the dropsies during their sophomore seasons in 2012. Some fans even began to question whether or not those two guys would ever develop into anything special and live up to their hype coming out of high school. Then 2013 happened and they both flourished and became amazing receivers during their junior seasons. Now, the same fans are giving up on a young receiver that got open but had a case of the dropsies as a true freshman. The whole point I am making is that there is still plenty of time for Trey Quinn to become a great receiver. Don't give up on players so quickly.

Just that in the offseason people tend to find one or two players that they get way too high on. I'll be happy if our passing game has a heartbeat and if any of the wide receivers show up.

Neither Quinn, nor Dupre, nor Diarse, nor Dural, nor T. Johnson will be a big contributor next season unless a QB is able to deliver the ball.

I'm not saying Quinn will break records next year, nor am I "too high" on him. He won't do a damn thing without better QB play. I was just basically saying that people dismissing him or writing him off for a tough freshman year are kinda ridiculous. He's extremely talented and hard-working and I think he will show his worth next year if our QBs can be servicable.

The fact that he even saw the field as a true freshman is pretty impressive. Same for Harris.

im looking forward to seeing both in the future.

well you can have the greatest hands in the world in practice but when you continually drop easy ones in the clutch part of games you deserve to be benched. as bad as jennings was against Bama, if Quinn doesn't drop the 3rd down passes we win because they would have had zero timeouts

This is how I feel as well.

TQ will get better but he has some stiff competition. Chi and Dural are locks for 1 & 2 I believe. I know its mad early but its not far fetched. Then #3 WR is between Chark, Diarse, and Quinn, but you have to figure Johnson will get on the field soon too.

Or when you're not the greatest blocking WR as sell. Even if he was dropping passes, being a capable blocker would give him more PT

I do not think the DB's at DBU would agree with you, but what do they know?????

Can't believe he dropped those 2 passes.

To his credit, that second pass was terrible, but still one he could have made.

You will never hear him blame anybody else but himself, if the ball is anywhere in his area code he expects to catch it. The haters will hate, but the truth is that nobody is as hard on him as he is to himself. He is also one of the most physically and mentally tough players you will ever meet, and I just hope he continues to represent LSU well on and off the field!

It's been too many years since I've played any organized football but the gif shown in this thread was a bad pass. Should he have caught it? Yes. But frick, that was a tough adjustment on a bullet thrown away from him. Any receiver could have easily dropped that pass.

Quinn will improve. He was a freshman and had some drops. His biggest obstacle is that we have a lot of very talented WRs on the roster. Whoever masters all the little things from routes to blocking to playbook will earn a starting spot.

Takes a good bit of maturity by a freshman to handle that kind of emotional swing

He had the opportunity to put Bama away with a catch, twice and he did not make either catch. One was easy. One was a tougher catch.

He will have other chances.

If this was like professional football and you were a GM, you'd be trading a couple of those guys for LBs.

Good thing same doesn't apply to qbs.

Not to mention Amati coopers drops during the same game.
If I remember correctly Brandon lafell and OBjr had drop issues as a fresh... They seemed to both work out ok.

TQ’s drops hurt vs Bama. And I don’t have a problem with Diarse playing ahead of him.

What I have a problem with is Les’s stoopid policy of ‘benching’ someone for fumbles and drops. And all the more when it’s applied unevenly. Shouldn’t DB’s get benched when they don’t make an int when it hits them in the hands? Why was PP7 benched after his fumbled punt vs UF in ’10 or OBJ vs UGA in ’13?

I don’t ever recall Jarvis having the ‘drops’ – maybe one he could have caught vs UW in ’12. But I do recall OBJ fumbling (embarrassingly so) vs UF in ’12 and then following it up with a drop on a critical play at the end of that game. I also recall Bowe having the drops in ’05 and LaFell in ’07 (worst case ever). But don’t bench’em. Give them a chance to redeem themselves. JC, Melvin, and TQ were effectively benched after a drop/fumble. Only common denominator to these was the opponent – Bama.

All make mistakes. Competitors relish the opportunity to redeem themselves. When Les parks someone after a play, then either he doesn’t understand the heart of a competitor or he thinks that the player isn’t a competitor at all.
